Jaredturp Posted December 1, 2009 Report Share Posted December 1, 2009 Ok so it would make sense to me that a sub with more XMAX would need more port area.... but all i hear are rules about how many square inches are needed due to enclosure size.... i really don't understand the physics on this one.. SimonGF Posted December 1, 2009 Report Share Posted December 1, 2009 As far as i know, you shouldnt have more or less port area because of the XMAX The only thing that you need to calculate the port area is that you need approximately 14-16 square inches of port pr. cubic ft. your box is. And then the length of the port will determine the tuning of the port. XMAX is only one of the factors that determine SPl.
