removing head unit

Recommended Posts

Where the transmission hump starts on the drivers side look strait up under the dash, it looks like a silver box on a bracket that does a funny bend. the bracket is held in by 2 7mm screws and the box has a stud sticking out of it in the middle sticking down with a 7mm or 10mm nut on it. the wires your looking for are on the top of this unit, thats where you lose it in the dash. It sounded like you found it when you said you unplugged two plugs and lost all settings. The wires you unplugged for that are just for the tape deck / eq, and for the controller on the instrument cluster. There are 2 to 4 other plugs under there going into that silver box that you pull up to the tape deck slot for the adapter. I do REALLY suggest to get that in case you want to restore this truck or sell it because it makes everyone's lives easier.
