Run just 1 VC or both?

I got a rockford 500.1bd amp which is supposed to put out 500watts rms @ 2ohm

and a DD 9015 dual 2ohm

Now I recently learned its fine to run just one VC on a DVC sub. So I just got a box for the sub yday and installed it into my CRX today. I just powered one VC as the sub is built to handle 1000rms.

I do have a rockford 1000watt rms amp, but the terminals are all stripped. Also have a clarion 1,550 (or close) watt amp. But the lights already dim with the 500 watts so i dont plan on running much more at the time. Will be doing some sort of "big 3" soon tho.

My question is should i just leave it the way it is now (i think i should) or just wire the subs VCs to 1 ohm and hope for the best with the amp not over heating or any such thing.

Edit: I do have another 500.1bd amp, but the last time i ran both amps i burnt out one of the subs (not sure how to find out if it was the amps fault or not.
