Another aero port thread

I have a noobie question about ports. I'm doing a center console type box in my single cab pick-up and was wondering if I can save some space by using aero ports? Would an aero port take up less space than an L-port? I don't know of any other types of port's to use with only a single sub setup.

I got some measurements after I got my passenger seat all mounted up and realized I have a bit more space than I had originally thought I would have. I have room for 1 12" in a ported box but don't know much about ports. I've been looking for reading material that would explain the differences in ports and how to tune them myself. Such as how much port area I should use with what airspace, amp, sub I would be running but I've had no luck. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it... Maybe I just fail at search?
