I'm pretty new to car audio and all that and i was wondering how a good brand 500 watt amplifier could be better than a other brand 2000 watt amplifier. Some brands are really cheap, maybe under $100 for 2000 watts while other brands such as alpine for 1000 watts could be $500

Ive always had good luck with any of the main stream companies like rockford or kicker, but there are alot of upcomming companies that i have found out on this forum that make great stuff, i have heard a kicker 750.1 rock the shit out of a big ass old school bronco on one MTX 12 and you can get those for like $260 or so but thats just my 2 cents. there are tons of options out there just have to find your happy medium, what you can live with, and what you can live without.

The reason some companies are only $100 or so for 2000 watts, is because they are max power which is pointless as you will not see max power. Look at RMS power, Alot of cheaper companies Ie: lagacy, boss, pyramid are known for advertising max power numbers. Spend the money for real power ie: Rockford, kicker, Sundown ....ECT.
