This problem makes NO SENSE

Ok so @ 30v (on the DMM) if I set my headunit to 26/30 volume and -2bass (thats the clearest I can get it @ 30v) it sounds decent but by no means loud...

but if I change the HU to 28/30 volume and 0bass @ 30v I get almost twice the bass/air movement...

I hear low-end pioneers have a problem where they need to be more then 3/4 the way up to get proper bass/loudness , it makes sense since the voltage doesnt change but the bass does my mids/highs sound a lot clearer @ 26/30volume with -2bass but im a basshead and I'll sacrafics everything else for that nice boom =] (eventually im getting an amplifier for my mids/highs but for now this is it)

So should I just keep my volume @ 28 with 0db and run with it? @ 30v cause I really dont enjoy the minimal bass I get @ 26/30 /w -2 bass it sounds crud.

Also can anyone recommend me a HU perfect for bass thats under $200 I was looking at some of the Alpine CDA's but they seemed pricey, and I noticed a lot of you guys use pioneer so what should I go with guys?

I'd recommend the pioneer deh-4200ub, if you use iPods. its got 3 4v RCA outputs and built in crossovers.
