white4d96 Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 I'm in school right now and cannot access Torres' box calculator, so I was forced to use a different one for a design I was considering. I am looking for 4-4.5 cubes at 35Hz. I planned on using 6 3" PVC ports for about 57 square inches of port. The dimensions I ended up with were as follows: Height 12, width 36, depth 26.5, 4.3 cubes net with 19 inches port length. Does this seem right? Something doesn't sound right to me here... Too many projects, too little time...
white4d96 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Report Posted March 3, 2010 Okay, the calculators I trust don't have an input for multiple tube ports. How should I input the port diameter to determine length? Too many projects, too little time...
white4d96 Posted March 4, 2010 Author Report Posted March 4, 2010 Okay, so I thought maybe all I had to do was take the full port area (3xpi)x6, and divide it by pi, use that as the diameter for my ports. Apparently I was wrong, as it told me I needed 89 INCHES of port for 35Hz (with 5.5 gross cubes!) So I tried doing the same port area (about 85 square inches) in a slot port (4x21.25 inch) and it told me to use 26 inches of port. Could I use the slot length for the tube ports? Or is there a formula I can use to figure this out? Too many projects, too little time...
