teknikalitch Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 so heres the story. i had 4 pioneer 6.5" 4-ways all the way around. they lasted quite some time. around 8 months or so. ALL of the tweeters blew im guessing. they just quit working. all of them at the same time. i was running a shitty sony amp on them at that time. in the last month i upgraded those to fosgate 6.5" punch components up front and coaxials in the rear. im now running a hifonics zxi6410 on those. the gains are only about half way up. the components up front are amazing. the rear WAS amazing. yesterday i noticed that the tweeters in the rears are not working... AGAIN! i dont know if the BTL facing upwards in the trunk has had an affect on them or what but im getting very aggrivated. its not that big of a deal at the moment because those are just a fill. i hear most of the mids and highs from the front stage. what gives guys. i cant afford to keep buying new mids every few months. any ideas on what the hell is going on? am i clipping them causing them to blow? i dont have access to a o-scope so i cant set my gains and find clip points on my head unit that way (alpine x-001). if the components up front keep on the up and up ill replace the rears with a set of those. id rather not because theyre in the rear deck of my accord and i dont really want to go cutting into my speaker pods back there to install the tweets. JCiarlino Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 The only thing I can think of is the tweeters are clipping. Maybe try setting the gains with a DMM. Nice car in the avatar btw.
