Guest MegaloManiac
I would like to discuss the nature of this song. I have my interpretation in my head, i will hold my tongue until someone else tells me there thought first. Read the lyrics or you can "purchase" the song however you may desire ....listening to the whole album will clear a few things up...(Thirteenth Step) Lets get talking. Im intending to post a few more threads like this so we can get open-ended responses *I want YOUR interpretation of the song. I know there is a website called songmeanings.com or something, but I respect and value your thoughts. A Perfect Circle - "The Noose" So glad to see you well, overcome them Completely silent now With heaven's help You've cast your demons out And not to pull your halo down Around your neck and tug you off your cloud But I'm more than just a little curious How you're plannin' to go about makin' your amends To the dead To the dead Recall the deeds as if they're all Someone else's Atrocious stories Now you stand reborn Before us all So glad to see you well And not to pull your halo down Around your neck and tug you to the ground But I'm more than just a little curious How you're plannin' to go about makin' your amends To the dead To the dead With your halo slippin' down Your halo slippin' Your halo slippin' down Your halo slippin' down Your halo slippin' down (I'm more than just a little curious How you're plannin' to go about makin' your amends) [repeated] Your halo slippin' down Your halo's slippin' down to choke you now

Then they basically tried to redeem themselves by "getting right with jesus". But they cannot overcome their conscious and basically "chokes" them in the end. I'm not real sure, I didn't really put much thought into my response. Maynard lyrics usually have some kind of double, complicated meaning... Most of them drug-related.... Guest MegaloManiac
yeah man you are very close to my thinking. The guy was involved in drinking(& driving) he killed someone on accident. He did the "12 steps recovery alcoholic", maynard is asking him without him trying to make him take the unwritten 13th step...Suicide...about his guilty concience to make amends to those he has hurt/killed. Guilty Conscience prevails at the end...about 3 songs later "The Outsider" song takes place..read those lyrics. what do you think of my interpretation? king_jebus
Yup, the same as I was thinking. I don't think the song is totally specific of the details tho. Edited June 20, 2007 by king_jebus
