billybunter Posted April 16, 2010 Report Posted April 16, 2010 hey people, I have 4 100rms speakers wired to a four channel amp which will give out 100rms per channel. my problem is that my speakers go really quite, I can have my HU all the way up and they are really quite. One works fine, where the other one cuts off another words its loud then cuts out and then comes back on. The speaker at the rear is always quite. Do you the the channel on the amps are fcuked or do you think that I have blown my speakers?? If i have blown my speakers I thought I would be fine because I got 100rms for 100rms speaker? Also is there anyway I can check the channels of my amp with a multi tester, just to see if the amp is cutting out on a certain channel? Thanks for any help!

Guest Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 you probably have a shit amp ground, meaning you didnt ground it in a good place, or your clipping the shit out of those speakers.

Guest Posted April 17, 2010 Report Posted April 17, 2010 my ground is very good. the amp is slightly above half way wheres the ground? and did you sand all the paint off so its shiny metal? and that means absolutely nothing "slightly above half way" unless you tuned it with a DMM or even better an oscilloscope, you have no idea if your clipping

Clipping on the other hand im not to sure about. no way i could get a rough idea with a multitester?

Clipping on the other hand im not to sure about. no way i could get a rough idea with a multitester? i assume you mean by that, that your ground is bolted to a shiny piece of metal then. and yes there is a way to test with a multitester, assuming it can measure AC voltage. at the speaker terminals, each channel should read about 17.5-18vAC (about 76 to 81 watts, you always want headroom so you dont clip)
