Chomps Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 I'm getting a BTL fully loaded 15 and a aq 2200d soon. I'll soon do the Big 3 before I order any of those, but my question is- Should I upgrade my stock 80 amp alt to a 130amp or a 180amp alt. Or should I just stick with my stock 80amp alt and add a rear battery to the back. Or should I get one of the upgraded alternators and get a battery in the back? And if I have to get an upgraded alt, which one should I get? The price difference is about 150-200. Thanks! edit- I just realized my title says amp, which I don't have a questions about an amp,lol. Guest Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 get a DC power alternator. no point in having that second battery if your alt cant even charge it when the amp sucks all the current out of your electrical system. 130 and 180 amp will help but not as much as like a 270 amp alt that DC sells

kmalinich Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 big 3, 0 gauge, and xs power battery in the back and underhood. at minimum. if you can swing it, you'd really be better off getting the alternator. it will help you so much more in the long run
