I've been having some problems with SMD lately. A little over a month ago I was on here, and for some reason the site just stopped working. I thought maybe it was a problem with the site itself, but after a week I kept getting a "Oops, Internet Explorer could not connect" message. I tried three different browsers on my computer but none of them worked. I cleared out all my history, cookies, etc, and even went as far as reinstalling my OS. I also tried my wife's laptop, but that didn't work either. I reset the router and also tried going directly through the modem, but those also failed. I was in contact with my ISP about a half a dozen times over this period, but they couldn't figure out the problem either.

Then last week, out of the blue, it started working again. This lasted for about 3 days and it stopped working again (on both computers). I was finally able to access the site through a proxy, but it's missing a lot of features (smilies, etc) and I get pop-ups every time I click on something.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Is it me, my ISP, or SMD?

What browser are you using, I used to have problems with IE but then I switched to Google Chrome, and the problems went away.

I've tried IE 7 & 8, Firefox and Google Chrome. None of them worked.

Ok, I'm a computer noob so this might seem like a dumb question, but if I do this on my desktop will it have any effect on my wife's laptop?

No, changing dns servers on the computer will only affect that computer.

Thank you.

I've run two different malware/adware programs and neither one helped, but thanks for the suggestion.
