bigmescan
ok im going to build a box sunday. i have an RESX 15d4 running right at 1500 watts. the box can be 40in long and the height can be 17in and the depth can be no more than 15. reasing im posting this question i need the sub to fire forward and port up. this is what sounds good in my truck. but i want the slot to be the legnth of the box another words sub forward slot port up at the rear of box. but i need so see if i can get it to around 35hz and lower. i just dont know how to figure the width and depth of the port. if need be the box can be taller or but preferably not longer. but i can go 45 in legnth if need be. Playa Named Joe
are you building the box out of 3/4" wood? Quote 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix build
Playa Named Joe
I could only get it below 35hz by using AERO PORTS. 3 4" aero ports at 15" long will get you to 34.1hz before sub displacement with 4.35^3 ft before displacement. This is with the box being 40W x 15D x 17H. or if you made them 17" long, drop tuning to about 32hz. Quote 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix build

bigmescan
I could only get it below 35hz by using AERO PORTS. 3 4" aero ports at 15" long will get you to 34.1hz before sub displacement with 4.35^3 ft before displacement. This is with the box being 40W x 15D x 17H. or if you made them 17" long, drop tuning to about 32hz. i appreciate the help but i need a slot port at the rear of box. and only reason being ive had diff setups in this truck and the slot at the rear just sounds better to my ear. the box can get longer and taller if need be. like i said maybe 45 in long and nothing over 20 in for the height. i dont think i mentioned it needs to be atleast 4cbft. Playa Named Joe
Ok, this is slot port, probably the only way it'll work. 18H X 43W X 15D will yield, before displacement, a tuning of 32.41 (will go up after sub is in) if it is 15"W X 3"H X 17" long. It would be an L shapped port, so you would have to bend it after the first 15" and make a 2" extension perpendicular. bigmescan
i think you mean that it will have the port on the side of the box instead of the back of box. im looking to have the port at the rear and the length of the box. so another words if i where to say 43x17x15 and i would have sub facing forward and then at the top of the back of the box there would be a lets just say 1in port that was 41 in long and the back and top of the box. can i do this with those dimensions beaing at 4cbft and tuned under 35hz. if not what would you suggest. Playa Named Joe
I know. You want sub forward, port up? Using the rear wall of the box, center the port. You will have to make the sides for it also. Having a port that is 40+ inches wide won't yield the result you want. So you would have to make a 3 sided hole in the top of the box in the center/rear side, that is 15 inches wide and (going toward the front of the box 3 inches) and the overall dementions for the box would 18 inches tall x 43 inches wide x 15 inches deep. Understand? Quote 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix build
