Hiya bassheads, i want to show you ma ride.

It's a -87 Corolla hatchback, with 1,3l carb engine (powaa!)

currently holding JBL P1222 powered up with SPL Dynamics S-7006 amp.

wired up with 0gauge.

let the pictures roll, feel free to pop any comments anytime.

fall 2009 i bought this beast.

043-2.JPG

i ride with it for 6months until it just needed something extra.

i bought a -87 FOHA bodykit, rebuild it from pieces of c**p and fitted it on.

stage1.jpg

got it finishd at this summer. then it was interior's turn to go from gray/blue to matt black.

also did dampening to the interior parts and the roof. (with using cheapest shizzle possible) whole dampening cost me like 50€.

had to cut off some pics here :(

then i got the "spark" or "curse" to SPL... that 200w rms MRV-F450 just wasn't enough, and that Fatiboi II in the trunk 300/600 rms/peak 12" was nice, but i wanted something more :D

110820101156%20%28Custom%29.jpg

trunk lost sparewheel and got wooden floor.

12082010074%20%28Custom%29.jpg

i build custom box from 24mm plywood(??), its 56,55l.

120820101220%20%28Custom%29.jpg

wired it up nicely by using old powerwire :D :D (first powerwire i bought to amp back in 2006).

130820101247%20%28Custom%29.jpg

i wanted everything to be solid as hell so i used 10mm copper bolts :D

bridged it to 4ohms.

130820101251%20%28Custom%29.jpg

got JBL P1222, that looks like powa!

looks big in that small trunk. that's the spl dynamics s-6007 4x100 +1x600 rms.

130820101260%20%28Custom%29.jpg

wiring as big as possible. 0gauge was pretty tight to fit in..

170820101295%20%28Custom%29.jpg

i hid the wiring under the carpet. i did S-loops not O-loops to avoid any magnetic fields and shiz.

200820101328%20%28Custom%29.jpg

first port was way too square'ish made windy sounds. and too long 32Hz, new 36,5Hz actually.

170820101293%20%28Custom%29.jpg

finishd product. tho old port in it dont have pic with the new port.

and made few vids also..

rolla.1 is with old battery and first testrun with the 32hz port.

rolla.2 is a compile from many vids

rolla.3 is newest, everything should be tuned up +new battery. still need a bumpin battery in the trunk.

my camera's mic is sh*t, so sounds like crap. its Nokia N96 and... well youll hear it on the vid 3, when everything is cranked up...

i calculated the output voltages from my amp using test tones and diffirent sound inputs. then used a 20log10(V1:V2) formula to calculate when it clips, because i dont have a oscilloscope.

--

i had to remove like 20 pics :(

my building log in finnish forums contains over 200 pics on first page. :D

i agree nice job =) and how u like that sub i almost got 1

thanks.

i am very pleased for the sub, the more you give it power the better it sounds. at nights i listen music on very low level, and still it sounds clearly and gives nice soft bass.

but when i crank it up my mouth drops and im like whaaaatttheheeeeelll :yahoo: .

still i got this feeling that it wont last long till i get a new one. i have already drool'd for one 18" SPL Dynamics sub... can't really fit anything larger in that trunk, one 18" with 160litre box is all that corolla can take. but its for 2011, saving for bigger! 8)

new stuff!

040220111902%20%28Custom%29.jpg

added some grounwires from front to back as i dont have battery at front anymore.

040220111905%20%28Custom%29.jpg

alternator has now been grounded propely allaround the car to get rid of the altwhine.

i had problems with hearing the alt wire because all my car electronics went from back battery to alternator to the rest of the car, so i added few groundings allaround from headunit to batt alt to batt etc. also added from front fuse to car electronics as all electronic components went nuts when i started the car cos they took the voltage from alt, not sraight from the battery.

040220111907%20%28Custom%29.jpg

sanded to bare metal to get good contact.

300120111872%20%28Custom%29.jpg

AMP-rack and cableholder has been covered with the same material as the sub.

300120111873%20%28Custom%29.jpg

those cables... mmm...

300120111852%20%28Custom%29.jpg

bought Aeroport. 4".

020220111875%20%28Custom%29.jpg

installed it, looking nice. needs to be cleaned up tho.

190220111958%20%28Custom%29.jpg

last month was pretty cold so didnt have much time to do anything. it was -20 to -30 degrees in here.

BUT then i bought dbm2. cost me only 110euros, that's like $130-$140!

and week ago i went to calibrate the dbm2 with termlab. we found out that it is almost as accurate as TL when calibrated, but the box and the settings tends to vibrate and it screws the measurement. but if you measure it inside the subwoofer it is very clost to TL.

here is the video from the run.

remember only 600W from the amp.

137dB 33s average. the song we need to use to competete has tones of 35-38-41-44-47-50-53-56 Hz.

141,5dB peak at 47Hz

020320112004%20%28Custom%29.jpg

after it has gone warmer i managed to push it to 142,6dB!!! that's from single 12" and 600W.

i have now made blueprints for new box, it is calculated to get me +1dB, i'm looking forward to it.

old one is 55l tuned now to 40Hz ( port was too long we cutted 5cm off and gained a +1dB to the run).

new box will be 85l tuned to 37Hz with 6" Aeroport.

2011kotelo_etu_final.jpg

front (25mm = 1")

2011kotelo_yla_final.jpg

up

now i gotta wait till the end of this month to get cash for the materials, as a student i have slim to none cash available for my hobby :)

few vids from my system:

before you reply enything about clipping, i gotta tell you that i have taken hunderets measures from the amp terminals to determine wheter it clips or not.

example:

clipping.jpg

this is measured with DMM from AMP terminals, with 47Hz test tone.

sublevel is 6/12 and volume is seen there.

i got the 142.6dB with the competitio song and volume 35.

the green/red cells are dB's calculated with the formula of =20*LOG((volume35/volume34);10).

the middle one is Volts AC.

1dB is whitout disortion 0.5dB is clipping some, 0.2 is alot of clipping.

i cant afford an oscillocope so i have to do alot of calculations :D

i ordered materials for new box, 24mm plywood cost me 34euros, theyre cut in size.
