haha thanks guys. from what you say running it at the higher RMS is a bad idea which i sort of guessed.

its not a bad idea, you just need to know what you're doing (aka not clip, use an oscilloscope etc) because you can blow a sub QUICK if you clip the signal AND overpower the woofer)

so ill probably build a decent box to the specs that Fusion recommend for optimum performance and see how that goes then.

and also at the moment my gain is set to +6dB. what do most people who are properly into subs. etc, set their gain at?

it is different for every person. the only true way to set gains is with an oscilloscope. you cannot ask someone who has the same amp as you but the other equipment, like headunits (even if its the same), what their gain is set to then set it to that. also, you cant just turn a knob and expect it to be ok. this is what makes me angry at many bassheads in my area.

ill have a look into a oscilloscope.

chances are, my local car audio shop (owned by car audio enthusiast) will have one, so might just head down there after i got the new box in.

i dropped gain to 0 for the moment just to keep all frequencies equal as my current box had to be...shall we say "modified" because it was sealed badly and sorta broke apart haha. oh well, the only way to get better is to learn from your mistakes right.
