Comprehensive Tutorial

Hello,

When it comes to my car's electrical I feel completely lost. So I have a few basic questions that I have a hard time finding a good answer on.

1) What are the advantages of having multiple batteries if they increase the load on the alternator for a daily driver? The impression I get is they serve to soften the "load" on the alt normalizing the current draw is that correct?

2) Seeing the resistance of DC current increases with the wength of wire wouldn't it be better to have batteris closer to the amps including moving the under the hood batt to the back? Or does that increase strain on the alt considering it has to send current down the wire as well and it comes down to weighing whats more important, available current for the amplifiers at the cost of an increased load on the charging system?

3)Are there any tutorials on how to wire batteries and alt(s) together when running multiple strands of 0 AWG wire? I'm completely lost on this one. I know you wire the batteries in parallel, and that's the extent of my knowledge. Diagrams are considerably harder to come by than subwoofer wiring ones.

4) What route electrically is best to take assuming big 3 is done? Get an alt first and upgrade batt(s) next? Or is it the other way around? If you're going to do it should you go ahead and do it big and get biggest aftermarket alt if you plan on upgrading or are there disadvantages of going for the biggest alt first?

5) Slightly off topic, but the head unit I will be using in my next build has 8V pre-outs. Is this overkill? Would it be more practical to use a H/U with 5v preouts? Taking the sax-1200D for example(as was easiest one I found) it has an input sensitivity range of 200 mV to 6V. Does that mean any Voltage above 6V is wasted from the H/U?

Thank you! I realize these topics may be the tip of an iceberg, and the explanations may be convoluted. I've searched online and can't find any definitive answers to my questions just a lot of background and junk. If you have a good link or know of good books that offer a full, relevant tutorial please let me know. :)

Bump. Anyone able to answer any of these questions or at least point me in the direction of a good book and/or website?
