Maag himself
Okay, so what's the deal with the bass in a sedan trunk? I've seen some places saying that opening the rear deck benefits SPL by allowing sound waves and port air pressures to propagate through to the cabin - seems logical. But then I see people sealing off their trunk and making it airtight.. Why? What works better and why?
keepinitloud
thats cars with fold down seats you face the box forward an seal it off from the trunk here is a picture of mine so you get the idea here is another with it finished Quote 06 chrysler 300C Hemi one mmatts dreadnaut 15 powered by a planet audio vx 2200d fosgate p200 running planet audio 8" midbass drivers and super compression tweeters stock battery and a stinger spv44 Irragi 300 amp alternator big 3 1/0 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/55075-system-in-my-300c/page__view__findpost__p__763656__fromsearch__1
Maag himself
So you have to have your seat folded down to benefit from this? So if I want to retain function of back seats, I have to cut through the deck?
herbykw
You fold the seats down and face the subs and port forward then seal the front of the box off from the rear of the trunk. Still works better with the seats folded down. Some people cut a hole in the rear deck and some fold the armrest down and cut out the hole behind it. You can still do pretty good without any of that. I have 2 15"s with subs and port forward not sealed off, but if i want to get real loud i have to fold the seats down. I still have full use of my back seat with enough bass even with people in the back, but for demos fold the seats down Edited November 30, 2010 by herbykw Quote 06 300C 5.7 Hemi K&N CAI JVC KW-AVX640 6.1" DVD DC Audio 3.5k 6 DC Audio 8"s 6 cubes 8" aero port at 32hrtz http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/183798-chrysler-300c-8-build/?p=2731834#entry2731834
keepinitloud
So you have to have your seat folded down to benefit from this? So if I want to retain function of back seats, I have to cut through the deck? yes and I can fold the back seat up when I have people riding in the back as well not as loud but usually if I have people with me there is conversation goin on the stereo is down so it don't matter but in your case if your seats dont fold down you can fire your subs back or do a bandpass port through in witch the port comes through the package tray or leave the by nines out to alow a little more sound Quote 06 chrysler 300C Hemi one mmatts dreadnaut 15 powered by a planet audio vx 2200d fosgate p200 running planet audio 8" midbass drivers and super compression tweeters stock battery and a stinger spv44 Irragi 300 amp alternator big 3 1/0 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/55075-system-in-my-300c/page__view__findpost__p__763656__fromsearch__1
