thats cars with fold down seats you face the box forward an seal it off from the trunk here is a picture of mine so you get the idea

You fold the seats down and face the subs and port forward then seal the front of the box off from the rear of the trunk. Still works better with the seats folded down. Some people cut a hole in the rear deck and some fold the armrest down and cut out the hole behind it. You can still do pretty good without any of that. I have 2 15"s with subs and port forward not sealed off, but if i want to get real loud i have to fold the seats down.

I still have full use of my back seat with enough bass even with people in the back, but for demos fold the seats down

So you have to have your seat folded down to benefit from this? So if I want to retain function of back seats, I have to cut through the deck?

yes and I can fold the back seat up when I have people riding in the back as well not as loud but usually if I have people with me there is conversation goin on the stereo is down so it don't matter but in your case if your seats dont fold down you can fire your subs back or do a bandpass port through in witch the port comes through the package tray or leave the by nines out to alow a little more sound
