  1. I am looking for someone who works with plexiglass that can make me a 10" subwoofer grille. Nothing to elaborate; just a 10" circle with holes drilled for mounts and some sort of cutout - maybe a Mazda logo. I know I can get the 10" disc off the web for cheap, but I have no experience with cutting this stuff. I moved my sub enclosure around in the Mazda and want to cover the sub for protection and still look great, too.
  2. Ok, found this on the Tacoma forums, for the exact unit I have.....needs a relay. "For the features that require the brake to be on, the head unit has to power up and THEN sense that the parking brake is on (grounded). Think about it...if you read the manual, it says you may have to take the brake off, then put it back on if the vehicle was started with the brake on. This mod works because the "remote" wire from the head unit powers up a fraction of a second AFTER the head unit powers up, triggers the relay, and provides a ground to the green brake wire after the short delay."
  3. Thanks, no offense but I did not guess, the manual clearly says to connect it to the "power" side of the parking brake sensor, not the ground. I can't get past the safety screen for ipod video either, so I will go try to ground it. If that does not work, I'll try a Pac PTR7.
  4. I read about it possibly needing a relay to 'delay' the time it sees power after the head unit is powered or something like that. It will not let me pair my cellphone bluetooth right now, so I think the wire is not correct; right now it is connected to +12v ignition. I will try to play a video from my ipod to verify it, if that works, then it is not the bluetooth prob.
  5. Ok guys....my first Pioneer head unit going into the PT. I know the theory is to ground the video wire, but Pioneer clearly says to connect it to the power side of the parking brake sensor. Are Pioneer units different?
  6. Thanks Jay, I recommended 1/0 to him as I have never readily seen 2 gauge for sale.
  7. Frys online has these for $148! It has built in bluetooth and ipod control, but the usb is on the front face. Also has 8 band EQ, Auto EQ if you buy the Pioneer microphone, and a lot of flexibility and sound control. No CD; but it has a SD slot and it plays ipod video. Can't beat the price, I picked one up for the PT! Pioneer MVH-P8200BT
  8. Thanks Sanitarium, I was just confused as others are saying that these amps would draw on average 60 amps each, so we were hoping he could stay with all 4 gauge and fuse a little less. I guess if RF says 100amps each, there is a reason.
  9. Help me out here, I am lost. RF says to use a 100 amp fuse per amplifier. But I thought that 4 gauge can handle ~140, so the power wire should be fused to protect itself and the amps fused to what RF recommends(???) Further down in the sticky it says to fuse 4 gauge at 125 amps(???) How would you fuse them?
  10. From the sticky at the top of this section... 4 gauge: ~140 amperes Class D (~70% efficiency) - <1400 watts Class A/B (~50% efficiency) - <1000 watts Does this mean that 4 gauge can handle max of 140 and that is where it should be fused at? RF site shows both amps near 70% efficient. He would have ~1100 watts rms.
  11. RF says to fuse each amp at 100. The general guide posted here is 140 amps for 4 gauge. Am I way off? How much will they pull on average? They are pretty efficient.
  12. Helping a friend on Mazda forum adding a RF T400 4 channel and a T500 sub amp. I think he can use 4 gauge from battery to distribution block and 4 gauge to each amp. Fuse 140 amp at battery and then 100 amp at each amplifier (per RF). Does this sound right? He has big three and otherwise stock electrical. 2010 Mazda 3.
  13. So sorry to see this, glad you are ok. I'm no expert but I don't see how that would not be totaled out, that is all structural damage there; and that is not exactly an inexpensive car to repair, .....and that paint costs extra, too. Pull your rims off of it and put the stockers back on. Let the insurance company replace it.
  14. What is the difference between a D975 and D1200? I have a 2010 Mazda 3i and it will never be over 1k RMS for stereo, but may have a few other mods, and I would like to replace the stock battery for an AGM battery. I think the factory Mazda battery is 40 AH, if that matters, I don't know what the CCA or CA of the stock battery is. Would there really be any advantage for me to get the 1200 over the 975?
  15. That's some nice work there! I learn some more every time you post a vid like these. On the inside walls of the enclosure, (not the corner 45's) do you just pour some resin and spread it with a brush to seal/smooth out the walls?
  16. Congrats, I'm sure you'll make one cool grandfather! No bitchin at 'em for loud music when they get to that age, though!
  17. Ok screw it, I'll give it a try. At least it is prefab, so I don't have to guess on the tuning. Some more questions, though.... The port is 34" long and the box is 40", will the inside port opening be to close to the wall and cause noise? (it is a 4" PSP aero flare). Does it matter if the sub is mounted near the inside port opening or should it be far from it? I am planning far from it, sub firing up and port firing to the side. This would place the sub and the point where the port exits the box close to each other.
  18. Thanks! The Eclipse 10" has an FS of 22 hz and the manual shows they used Bass Box 6 Pro to get their response graph, and it looks pretty nice. +1 or 2 db all the way up to 100 hz with a slight bump right at 30 hz. I just have to decide if I want to give up trunk space vs just doing a very small sealed fiberglass enclosure on the side of the trunk.
  19. Ok, need some advice... You guys know I had a hard time tuning the monster in the PT, hence the slight re-build that is going on with the ports. I have a second project going on, the new Mazda 3i. For reference- it is getting Eclipse 3-way components in the front doors, Eclipse 5"x7" in the rear doors and an Eclipse 10" sub in the trunk. Nothing crazy. My question is - the manual for the 10" sub has a nice design for a ported box tuned to 25 hz. It would be very easy to build, and I think I want to try it out. What do you guys know about a single 10" sub tuned to 25 hz? It will be getting just over it's RMS rating for power. Is this tune to low?, It has to be musical and also good for DVD movies.
  20. Just wanted to post up that this is great deadener and very easy to work with. I ordered up 10 sq ft for my Mazda's doors and only have e-dead to compare with, Damplifier is so much better to work with! I'll be ordering a trunk kit to go along with the new sub. Thanks to Second Skin for a great product.
  21. SUCCESS! ...after burning 3 blank discs and finalizing them.....#4 worked! -- Computers>me! --
  22. Anyone familiar with changing the startup screen on Eclipse headunits? I have the AVN62D and am following the instructions in the manual. I have the csm.txt file and my jpg file in the root of the CD-R. I have tried both the DVD/CD slot and the Map disc slot and I never get the change screen option after waiting about 30 seconds after loading the disc. Any ideas???
