How much power are you giving them?
If it's less than ~500w of clean power to each you'll be fine. 800wrms upwards and things will get toasty...
well i got a hifonics 1606 hooked up to them so yeah i think it might get toasty ,one of the subs sounds funny but that's cause i bought the sub used and to say the truth i shouldnet have done that now i might need a new sub,.but hey i got them installed today and man do they KNOCK i mean for in a sealed box they knock.
-
Don't run those subs in a sealed box. You'll burn them real quick. Something about the motors on them makes them get hot hot hot and if there isn't airflow through the box....
Don't be lazy, build something inside the boot. It's not hard.
oh great you tell me after i bought the sealed box .and the lazyness well im not good with building stuff and the local shop would have done it ported and all for 350 now thats a lot more then what i paid for one sub.but how long you think theyll last with the sealed box in them?
-
Build it inside of the trunk.
if i could i would but since i have no good expierence on builing stuff cant really do it.
beside it's against my parole to use power tools lol j\k!
-
take outthe back seat slide the box in, put your seats back?? just an Idea
hmmm i dont knwo about that one dont really have that good of patience to do that

How come you cant fit a ported box in a grand prix, you should have plenty of room. I wouldnt get rid of the 15s, also soundstream does not have sealed enclosure specs on these models. I suggest measuring youre trunk and see what you have to work with. You can work with these subs in a ported enclosure anywhere from 5-10 cu.ft depending on power application. I will however see if they will sound good in a sealed enclosure and what size.
when i tried a pre fab one it didnt fit .and i was planning on using a hifonics brutus 1606 on them but it came to a halt since the pre fab box didnt fit.so then how much would it cost to build me a box for the two 15's?and the other reason is that the opening of the trunk isnt that big so i couldent fit the box to GO IN.
-
BL all the way man. Both are nice subs but the BL will do wonders. Get the bish fully loaded and you can push 1600-1800 and the shit will sound amazing with the highs and snag some decent lows too.
what do you have to click on the menu in order to get it fully loaded?jsut click everything or what?
-
you could either build the box in the trunk or sell them and get 12s. what kind of car do you have?
i have a pontiac grand prix 2001 and i dont really know if building a box will make it perform good with the subs and also let alone with a sealed box but im running out of ideas now.

anybody help a brother out?

okay so i have a pair of 2 15 inch soundstream t4 subwoofers.now a ported box dosent fit in my trunk so the next best thing would have to be a sealed but i dont know what would happen if i did that i mean would they blow quicker or what and i just dont want to mess them up since on their website gives me no clue on if i can do that or no?.any one have any suggestions on if i should do it or sell them and get 12's instead?

I decided to clean up the gtx today...
first i had to get rid of little black tar spots ALL OVER THE CAR
so i used some of this to get the black spots off
I cleaned the entire car (soap/water), then i Dried the whole car
I used paper towels and added a little Xylene to the paper towel and very tediously went over about ever inch of the car getting all the black spots off the car.
after every section (front door/ back door/ front bumper/ rear/ etc) i would stop and clean that area with soap and water and dry again.
after i was done, just incase i missed any i washed that whole car over again
after doing that i cleaned the wheels and armoral'd (sp?) the tires
also armoral'd all the black pieces in the car
and swept out the car/ changed the towels on the floor mats
pix a couple mins after cleaning at the golf course
Pix later on that day on campus
close ups
more
IM not done though
tomorrow im going to rotate wheels and clean the backs of the wheels...new rims coming very soon thankfully.
im going to Clay bar for the first time and also wax
While i was getting the black spots off the car i noticed there are yellowish brown spots randomly on the car that i can not get off, does anyone know how to get the spots off??
that car is CLEAN . from one grand prix owner to another grand prix owner i like the color, mines white on white rims looks nice id put pic but cars in shop right now and i like yous set up,how much was the BTL for?

Unless u plan on winning spl competitons,
Get the measurements double aand triple check them.
Prefabs are fine but know what your lookin at
3/4" should be standard don't go any less
U can get a good box for 75-80 buxs. It will almost cost that much to make and carpet your own.
Hell a can of that carpet glue is like 8-9 buxs!
so if im not into the winning the spl contest's then i should get a pre fab one instead?and does anyone know if the boxes taht obcon makes good i mean they look THICK and everything.
-
depends on the size of the box and the weight of it. how big you wanting this?
not that big casue i got to maybe fit in two twelves in a ponitac grand prix with out having to sacrafice that much trunk space, gotta fit sum groceries lol.
-
build your own or if you dont have the tools have some one on here build you one. Dont waste your money on a prefab.
well does anyone know who can build me a box as i dont know how to casue i suck at building stuff really.and does anyone know how much it'll cost to do it?
-
buy everything you have, then return it
LOL
and it could just work too!

so which is better the kinetik or the powermaster and the optima battery is a NO-NO?

Alot of us probbly can't afford O-scopes.(I know if I had a grand I would choose an amp over the scope)
How about a little box that has 5 or 10 LEDs that can hook up to RCAs to find clipping. 5 green 1 yellow 2 orange 2 red (Red is a clipped signal)
Then build one that can go on the speaker outputs of large amps to find clipping.
Then offer a 3rd one that can be used with the RCAs and speaker terminal outputs.
There are 3 items to make money off of.
If it was good enough and the price was rite I would jump on one in a heart beat.
on the hifonics amps i think the colossus or sumthing like that on the side it has protect, the green one forgot what it's called and a orange one that hasfor CLIPPING.so now if all amps would to have one that would be great but ill bet you they dont so that your able to clip the crap out of your subs without you knowing so you have to buy more subwoofers.
-
an "afordable" amp display that shows the amps your system is drawing, like stingers voltage display, i know seeing the amps isnt needed but i think it would be cool to see your amp meeter when your beating full tilt.... (im sure they make em but i havent came across them ) other than on caps ....but i wont pay 120up for a cap to see my amps lol
or even better, a universal unitl , that is made for one amp, that shows the voltage at the amp, the amps the amp is pulling, and the operationg temp of the amp and be able to show the ohm load that is on the amp as well all in a easy to use unit, push a button and it will switch thru the aval functions, or show them all at once on a back lit digital display
i like that idea of those options that the amp could have.would be great to know if your amp is gonna fry for too much heat.

haha that the title made me think of this immediately..
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

2 15's can fit if your trunk is big enough so id do sum measuring before you get the subs cause if not then you'll be stuck with two 15s in your room just sitting there cause they dont fit in the trunk.or if not put then inside yet you'll have room for like two people in your car and car jackers will see inside and go "ohhhh i just found the system that i wanted".oh and word of advice BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING ABOUT SYSTEMS BUY AN ALARM wish i did that then i would have a system still. HATE CAR JACKERS
