  1. well...now thats my fault..i did fill out a quote..waited 4 days..then just got the only one that the site showed they made for a f150.. quote came back right after i bought.they told me that it was the best one for me,if i got the one with the controller ,i was more than likey guna have problems with PCM and dash lites .befor i send it back , im goin through everything hoping somthing is wrong, but dont think there is..stock runs just fine with everything the way it is..i have my meters on front battery and back amp furthest away from back battery..moved front to the alt and got 14.2 at start up/idle(cold or warm)..drops to 13.7 when over 1200 or so rpms(back meter is same a front meter with 17 feet of wire between..id say the wire is good-0/1 g CCA)..im fine with 14.2 at start up.but cant figure out the drop when driving..i still get hella lite dims.also just noticed some pulsing in the lites alswell..didnt notice befor..i have no idea what that could be..didnt have with other alts.. only reason im going to send back is cause i think mine should have a smaller pulley on it,and i dont wana void any warranties changing it myself .
  2. guys at oreillys let me exchange both batts...new ones had shelf charge of 12.55..took home charged up..came to rest at 12.8...mechman still at 14..falls after warm up..hit some heavy bass, got the back battery to drop to 11.2 volts(but did bounced rite back to 14)..put stock back in..14.5 all day even after warm up..was told buy seller that my pcm wont let alt charge to hi..but stock and other after market do...sending it back..end of story..
  3. same batts that were on the stock last week at 14.5 ..so i duno
  4. both batts are newer..how do u handle the resting voltage?..charger got them up to 13 befor it turned off..then after a bit they go back down to 12.6 or so
  5. batts sit at 12.6 sure i'm over thinking this, but 400plus dollars..just want to know why my mechman is best at idle (14volts) and goes to (13.7) when driving or revs. sorry if i'm repeating myself..i'm sure i am.. i'm going to get a new pulley from them and see if thats the problem,(mine came with a stock pulley 2.25").the site says it comes with a smaller pulley(1.75) and i will need a new belt..the instructions also say that. and there is a picture of my alt with a smaller pulley on it on the site and every youtube vid i watch with my alt..Sooo..in a few days or week or so..i will check back in with results.. thx u everyone!!!!
  6. my whole point about this is..my amps and everyone else's say they need 14.2 or 14.4 volts to run optimum ..and i dont have that...am i wrong.?.do i not need 14.4 volts for the amps????? ..or is it all about the alternator amperage?..someone school me plz..heh
  7. well..im not sure what to think now....my instructions say that i need to change to a smaller belt..the site i bought it from(mechman) says my alt will need a smaller belt cause pulley is 1.75 inches, BUT mine came with a stock pulley on it..i was told(by a guy at mechman) that the E series doesnt need a smaller pulley, but i cant find that anywhere on the net backing that up..i think mayb they sent me the wrong pulley on it..damn iduno...ima go through and quadruple check connections again.. do any of u guys have a mechman that came with a 2 1/4 inch pulley..or stock size??
  8. sorry was gone this weekend.. its a 5.4 ....volts are the same at the alt...its idling at 14 volts, when i give it gas its at 13.8 or so...it goes down in volts..it seems to hold the volts better, but can still hit low low 13's when bass drops..truck even seems to have less power now driving(unless i didnt train pcm rite after the resets).i live out in the bonnies and its hard to get up to speed to train the gears..
  9. No.its not belt slip..this mechman has the same size pully as stock..e-series come with same size pullys..my powermaxusa has a smaller pully.but runs fine..my tensioner adjusted fine to the smaller pully on it..but thats not the problem..ya..scartchn my head too..lol
  10. 2004 f150 is the vehicle... the voltage is at start up..it actually goes down to the 13's when hot..i got the alt because im going bigger soon, and i was tired of the lites dimming also. i have 2 Phoenix Gold 800 rms amps..they put out more than rated im sure..but ur right!..shouldnt have any probs with this alternator with those amps.. all the connections are solid..i can put the stock back in and it fires right up to 14.5 and will float a little higher when reving engine, mechman is at 13.9 and does nothing when reving ,but drop to 13.6 when it comes off the rev, then back to 13.9-14 prety sure my amps need atleast 14.4 to run correctly now mind ya..the mechman doest fall AS FAR as the stock when a load is on it,but still isnt good
  11. my stock was 14.5 all day..my powermaxusa was at 14.5 to 15 all day(but no idle charge)..my new mechman E-series 250 is at 13.8 to 14. i have the big 3(4), 2 optima yellow tops zero g wire with 250 amp fuses..only runing 1600 rms to subs.. the mechman loses voltage just like the stock when bass hits....it will drop to high 12's and the back battery a little lower.. any ideas??..no belt slippage, batteries are new, ect,ect not getn much help emailing mechman everday..
