I couldn't resist. I went ahead and ordered the JBL amp and the Audiocontrol line output converter. Knowing this amp with do at least 1000 watts, if not closer to 1200 watts for $140 makes me a very happy man. Thank you Sonic Electronix!

They are within $20 of each other but I want to know which one would truly be the better option. If the RP actually puts out 1500 watts or more, my common sense tells me it would be in fact the better purchase. Will the RP even do rated? The guts look good
