  1. Right now I'm running 2 Sundown SA 15's and don't get me wrong GREAT subs, but I'm looking to handle the lows with authority. The SA's are on a SQ 2200D and they are in a 6.6 Cu Ft (net) box tuned to about 37hz. They handle the lows pretty good till about the 28hz mark then it just falls off. I was debating between these 2 options awhile back and decided to go with the SA's for SPL reasons since I wanted to get into competing a little bit and hit a 145.6 @ 45hz. Would I be better off just throwing the SA's into a lower tuned box or pull the trigger on the Sundown X 18 and throw it in a box tuned to 24-27hz?
  2. Yeah you should have no problem at all.. After rise you're probably not putting that much power to them, plus it's not like your driving down the road burping constantly.. If you think you're over powering them and they smell or get too hot just knock the gain down a bit.
  3. How do you guys think the z v.3 18" stand up against the sa 15s and x18
  4. All 3 configurations would be on 2k watts rms, in a 97 explorer w/ 130amp alt, big 3, a kinetik 1800 upfront and back. What would be the best for spl and still getting low.. I've already made a thread about the 2 sa 15s vs the x18 but just noticed the z v.3 fits in budget.
  5. Do you think i'd be fine with the Brutus 2000.1D, with my 130A Alt, Big3 in 1/0 and all new 1/0 to the back, with a new Kinetik HC1800 under the hood and in the back? I'm really leaning towards Sundown over anything, I looked into the HDC 3.0's awhile back, but just prefer Sundown..
  6. Would the Hifonics BRZ1700.1D be a little better than the RF? @ $30 cheaper, or would it still pull to much on the 130Amp Alt/Big3/XS D1200?
  7. Yeah doesn't hurt to try.. Now what I'm wondering about adding the 2nd battery is, I've seen some people say that adding a 2nd battery is bad if It's not the same exact battery as up front, is this true or will it be fine to throw a different battery back there..
  8. What If I just kept my currently Planet Audio BB1400.1 @ 1Ohm 1400Rms. It's not the new one of the Planet Audio ones that are made by Boss it's the old model..
  9. 36" x 26" x 23" Would be my max dims, and total budget is 1500, but that includes all new Wiring and wiring for Big 3, either a new battery or just replace my front battery, box, and a HO Alt (If I need it) I just checked my alt and noticed it isn't the original alt. I ran the model on it and it's a 130Amp alt.
  10. Been searching around and thinking about this for awhile now, but decided to get some input on it. Currently I'm running a Kicker L5 15 on a Planet Audio BB1400.1 @ 1ohm. It's not to bad but I'm tired of having these thrown together budget systems. I'm planning on, over the next 2 months, on redoing my whole vehicle (1997 Explorer), I'm running 100% stock on electrical. With a crappy front battery and a 90Amp Alternator. I will be upgrading my Alt/Battery before I get anything else. I can't decide if i want 2 Sundown SA 15's or 1 Sundown X 18. I want to be able to handle the lows with authority but still be able to hit hard. Another thing is amps. I've searched around and it seems like some of the best bang for the buck is with the Hifonics Brutus Amps.. Was thinking about going with a Brutus 2000.1D. Whatever subs I end up going with, I'm going to end up definitely doing The Big 3 in 0Awg and running all new wiring to the back (Currently running 4Awg Stinger) Also on the electrical side what would be a good Size of HO Alt, would a 185Amp DC Power alternator and a battery in the back work fine for 2k RMS? And I've read that throwing a 2nd battery in the back if it's not the same type of battery in the front that it would reduce the life of both quickly. So would I be better off just throwing either a yellow top Optima or like a XS Power D1200 in the front? Thanks Derrick.
