  1. I use my money to support companies and people that I feel like I can trust. Before the amp dyno I think it was pretty hard to test a amp adequately, because of that you would look at other things to see if it actually supported its claims. i would look at efficiency, THD, lowest ohm load, fusing but in actuality I was flying blind.

if it doesn't do rated I am not going buy it. If a company over inflates their ratings i can't trust that they did the rest of the design correctly or safely. And my money will go elsewhere.

also grossly under rating is really annoying too, however i dont get the feeling i was cheated, just makes choosing the right amp harder. Like zuki saying an amp is rated at 25wpc rms when it would most likely be closer to 100. That is just as frustrating.

  2. dunno which was first but the notables....

my barber had a competition setup in his toyota solara, JL W7 with Boston Pro Series. Thats what made me get into car audio. Bought some MB Quart stuff when it was actually still made or manufactured in germany.

And my buddy rocking two Xtant subs that were loud as hell. (relatively to someone who had never heard a system before)

  3. Thanks. I am just looking for something simple that doesn't take up a lot of room and sounds good as well as being cost efficient. I know so very little about those slim bars. I don't watch much TV but I can't stand having only the TV sound. ugh!

Look at outlaw audio. They have probably the only soundbar I would listen to anymore. I know its expensive but I think its worth it. Definitive Technologies used to have a beast one but they got rid of it and now have the mythos series that I can't stand.

Also goldenear has some nice well...what they call "3d arrays" which really look like passive soundbars. Episode is another company that does the same thing.

But for the price the Vizio soundbars and Yamaha are nice.

But really the DIY kits are where its at. For the price you can build a awesome kit or just run 3 Dayton bookshelf speakers and a nice receiver and it would make a world of difference.

  4. OK got me on a technicality I still said 100ll which is aviation fuel.

Tell me that's harder to get than good e85.

    I'll be waiting.........

There's 2 stations I can get E85 within 3 miles of me. But it's different for everyone. I'm sure a lot of people live right next to an airport.

Still, E85 is much cheaper than race gas or aviation gas, even if you account for the 30% more you'll use. My brother runs it in his 'vette and gains .2 to .3 ET in the 1/4. He had to change his injectors, some of his fuel lines, and reprogram his ECU I think to do it. Says he still gets 20mpg on the highway.

E85 is great if you can get it, especially for boosted applications.

Alcohol is fun too, which you could make yourself if you have the time and feedstock.

You guys are kind of missing the point that e85 is not all actually e85 and even the stuff that is there are different blends of it.

Its tested the same as any other fuel. Whatever it says at the pump its inspected so that it is actually running that amount. It shouldn't or can't say e85 on it and be e10. Just like if I filled up at a 87 pump it can't be 70 octane .

Each state has a weights and measures body on top of regulating gas stations in almost every state.

E85 varies between 105 and 115 so tell me again how you know what you are getting when the pump just says e85?

Might actually help if you knew what you were talking about.

you're fucking amazing man. Do you get on here primarily just to be a dick or does it come naturally to you? What really do you get out of it. Christ. So the dude wants to run e85 in a car thats not running 14.1 compression WHO THE FUCK CARES at that point? if he is getting 105 THATS amazing compared to pump gas and at that point 105-115 is not a big deal. Hes not going to be tuned to take advantage of it so it doesn't fucking matter.

if you are running more compression/boost then the fuel can handle thats one thing, and you'll have detonation and knock problems, the other way around it doesn't really matter, its not going to hurt the motor and hes not going to get power gains at that point.

I'll pm since I have no pictures in a picture post....

  7. I am considering putting a single ma-8 in a 2006 regular cab Gmc Sierra but I am up for options. I want as much output as I get get, along with sound quality. I will have 1000rms@1 ohm if needed. I am up for other sizes/options but I want to stick with a single driver. What do you recommend?

read up a little about sound quality of subs.

It has more to do with strength of the motor and build quality then anything. But truely it doesn't mean jack if its in a crap enclosure or powered with a anemic amp.

A few questions that would help to have answered so you the response you want:

-how much room do you have for a enclosure? Sealed or ported? Or blow-through

-What type of music do you listen to?

-Are you comfortable with calculating and tuning a enclosure and have you done it before? If not or if you don't have space or tools to do so you may want something simple

-What will you be powering the sub with?

    -Are you on stock electrical?

-The big gorilla in the room, what is your budget

  8. One of my close friends I grew up with is part of the 127th he works on the weapons system and he's told me some stuff that just blows my mind about that plane I can't see why they would ever try to get rid of it.

I love the fact that the recoil from that gun can overpower the engines. Its usually the simple tools that just fucking work that are the best. And the reason is because the fucking Air Force has been run by morons for a really long time. They are more worried about RIDICULOUS rules and regs and protocol and are so far removed from what it actually means to do the job.

And the last thing they give a shit about, (most of them at least) is the warfighter or that guy on the ground.

1.5 Trillion....they are saving 4 billion by getting rid of an entire fleet of A10s....

I should probably post a picture.

Fuck a F35. And F22 for that matter. We could have saved billions without that fuckin program. Buncha old men wanting to be Maverick.

In fact, the boys in blue have tried to kill the A-10 program since its very inception, and have repeated their assassination attempts time and time again. Strangely, these attempts usually come quickly after the aircraft has performed marvelously in combat and has saved the lives of our troops on the ground while taking those of our enemies with great prejudice.

  10. I planned on going to bed early. Then I started looking at your build log again for some unknown fucking reason. Its almost 1...

I hate you for the precision mdf cuts on angles. Un-fucking believable. I can never get my head wrapped around opposing angles sometimes.

Love the build, keep it coming, and all the little tricks like the multiple angled pieces taped to one square piece and run along the rip fence. Keep that shit coming! thats awesome.
