  1. That's a work of art.

yea its ridiculous. If you look at what it is he has individual PCBs for the LEDs and a machined piece of aluminum and plexi. All are connected with their own pigtails. Its probably about $1k worth of parts easy, he has the prices in the build log but the one piece was like $253. But godamn...I would probably just sit there with a beer and a stogy and look at it in the garage.

  2. I love ford trucks. I miss my superduty so bad.

Are you planning to chip it or anything? I hear the ecoboost loves a good tune on it, apparently some of the fleet mechanics have been playing with them a bit. (I know you've had this thing like a day though)

  3. Engine, Trans, computer, wiring harness, custom exhaust, custom motor mounts, most likely custom oil pan, along witb many other little odds an ends

You're more than what you guys think.

Either one of you actually ever done an ls swap into something or just read about it online?

If he was going to get it and swap anything into it he be much better off financially with an old school sbc.

yup, but it was in a jeep.

  4. ls engine swap is 8k at minimum.. every part to make it fit a car cost a fortune.

meh 8k$ is high but thats not far off. I think you would be 6k$ in the whole swap by the time you had the fuel, trans and fitted into the car. Theres a guy on pirate 4x4 that sells $2k LS motors with stand alone 2-wire harnesses that look really nice.

But really I found out a long time ago that performance cars/bikes and Offroading is a rich mans game. Fuck that. (says the guy that spent 2k$ so far on his audio build....)

8k with intake swap and a few mods. i hate that truck intake they run on it.. i was looking at getting one for the impala but im better of just building the lt1 for cheaper. 8k gets me a very solid 396 or 408 lt1

definitely, the LT1 can make power too. Or do forced induction, although I would build the motor before I started throwing stuff at it anyway.

  6. Show me these cheap ls1 and Trans combo for sale cheap because I'll take two right now.

That car is for sale at the top of what it's worth so why get it and sink $10k+ in it that you'll never have a chance of getting back?

pick a part yard is selling 5.3s at about $250+ grab the trans/harness/ECM/TCM and you're at probably $1K-1.5K$, I would buy a 5.3L before I went with a LS1, performance is not too far off. Also 6.0Ls are plentiful.

Its doable but the bullshit thing is thats not where the money is going to be sunk. Its going to be in stupid shit to make it fit. And you get annoyed and end up buying the 2-3K$ LS swap kit to just make it work. So your budget engine just cost you what a E-Rod kit is gonna go for.

Classics are great but any car costs money to do right.
