  1. Got some more work done yeasterday on the Wagon! Got my suitcas, cooler and my valves put back in. Had to redo the valve set-up, not exactly where I wanted them at but hey when your trying to hide 10 pounds of shit into a 5 pound bag sometimes you just got to be happy it fit!!!! Still have to wire them in. Also picked me up a side project! Matching Samsonite Brief-Case that I will be building something with very soon!

  2. Come on dude. Get to making that box already Ha ha. I so want to see this build happen so bad. I know the feeling first hand like a ton of other members here. Got to go backwards to go forward, Love that statement lol, Why ? Because it so damn true..... Love the way your thinking on this 4th order. Wires will be a sweet touch like the other things happening to this box. So Jealous still of your Ride bro.

Thanks man! The box build starts tomorrow!!!!! But it will have a wood top to start with so I can play around with port configurations! Before it gets the Plexy glass top!!! So the first videos will be with the wood top. I'll be sure to keep the pics coming as I go! Stay tuned in!

  3. Do not use solid core wire! If you want something rigid, use copper tube or a very low strand count wire but

Do not use solid core wire!!!

Please explain why he shouldn't use solid core wire..
Solid core wire will break after vibrations, it's meant to be installed in a home where it is never subjected to vibration. The wire will crack inside the sheathing. It will ohm out but you will get static and shorts through the speakers, use copper tube much stronger than copper wire, also mug more rigid and will actually hold the bends.

When the solid core wire does finally break, you won't be able to tell, when you ohm it out it will read alright but you won't be able to get any current through the break in the wire.

Been there done that!!! Never again!!!

You make a good point! That's why I was going to make holding brakets for them so they couldn't move. I was thinking the more places I support the wire the less it can move and cause it to break. Just a thought! I've never ran solid core wire on a system! Thanks for the info!

  4. sideshow...more pics!! more progress! more!!! :doit:

The X10's are coming out This coming up week and I will start testing my box next weekend! I got to wait to go over to My buddies to put it on a meter and he is going to help me tune in the correct port length & shape for it to perform the best in the Wagon! I'm building the top of the box out of wood first so I can play around with port designs first before I cut the Plexi-Glass for the finished top! More Pics coming soon! I can't wait to hear them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yahoo::yahoo: :yahoo:

  5. Playing around with some wiring Ideal's, going to run solid core 10awg to them so I can bend them and have them nice and neat. This was just a sample the wire's will be Blue & white once done!

I do electrical work and when I saw the green my mind said "ground" and then my OCD kicked in about circuit wire colors lol

Yeah I know but it was all the Solid core wire I had sitting around to try!!! Didn't want to buy a roll of White & Blue and it not work out for me! LOL Then again the electrical work I do them colors wold tell me 24vdc or 120vac hot (Blue) and 120vac neutral (White) I guess audio stuff can be FLEXIBLE on the color's! LOL

same here lol back when I was taking my motor controls class, people would always ask me why I used specific colors for specific voltages and controls and would ask if it really mattered. Everyone besides myself would use only one color, and a lot would use green for their power wires and their neutrals. It got on my nerves pretty bad lol

Yeah that get's on mine to! When I open up an electrical cab-nit I like to see the proper color wires run for the voltage it is & for every thing to be labeled! Makes trouble shooting much easier! I got to the point where even if I know the power is off I check it on AC & DC cause you never know what someone else has wired up it with any ol color wire!

  7. i can dig the wiring! looks good!

Hope to be further along with this build then this but I've had to major show's back to back so I haven't been able to work on it much! BUT after this weekend I will be all over it!!!!!!! I'm ready to hear what they sound like in a 4th order under there! I still haven't heard any in a 4th order yet nor have I heard 8 of them at once! I'm digging the wire ideal to! With the yop going to be Plexi-Glass I think it will make it look neater than just some stranded wire on em!

  8. Ronnie Smith (SideShow) I posted a few pictures of my Wagon on an audio page on FB and someone told me I should check out the SMD sight and post it on here! So I started an account and did just that! I like that I can tell the whole story of a build on here and post pic by pic as I go! Also love checking out everyone elses builds and seeing the creativity & craftsmanship of others builds! Theres also a bunch of helpful information on here as well! Lot of the FB's audio pages you go on you better not ask a question cause all the smart @$$ TROLLS come out running there mouth about how much there stuff is better than yours and you don't know nothing! Haven't seen that here!!!!! I'll be sure to stick around!!!
