  1. So I have a 04 tahoe and I will be installing 4 mechman elite 370's. Now the plugs that came with the alts I understand that one of the alts will plug into the stock plug. So for the other 3 alts is there a certain wire i need to hook up? Do I need to splice all the same colored wires together? The plugs currently have 4 wires (yellow, blue, red, black) with a pigtail blue wire to hook up to a ignition source. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for all of the wire colors, but in the end all that is important is the "L" terminal on the regulator. In most cases this can be found by looking at the alternator from the back. The very first pin to the left of the clip should have the letter "L" cast into the plastic regulator stub. Get a switched 12V to that and rock and roll.

Let me know if this helped, and if you need anything email me at [email protected] or call 1-888-MECHMAN XT 202.

  2. ok i just got a new truck 2001 gmc sierra 6.0 L i took my mechman g series 270 amp alt that was working fine and is maybe 4 months old off my 1999 sierra

5.3 L to swap on the new truck when i start the truck volts high like above 15 and if i rev engine volts drop and raise and bounce around all cab lights and

head lights dim also does this while driving also a squeeling sound off and on while driving.i have a brand new tensioner and a shorter gates belt that is nice

and tight i have big 3 done in sky high ofc with a 300 amp fuse on alt power wire ,and a xs d3400 as starting battery .i have not installed my extra batts yet

witch is 3 more c&d dynastys MR400s i have not changed any thing with the electrical it has stock sterio ,speakers ,ect. any help would be great,

my buddy tells me i need an elite series cause the g series wont handle more strain its getting from the 6.0 motor but it says it works on 99-04 6.0s in the description

This is a very strange problem. The engine size in your case is not an issue, and your friend is wrong. It sounds like you have everything done right, and since it was working fine on your old truck you must of had it right on there also. My best recommendation is to send it back for testing.

Email me @ [email protected] and I will get you a return number.

    Thanks,

    Chris

  3. So what makes these different?

Singer beefed up one of the ones for my boat and he said that he couldn't "knowingly" sell me a car alt that did the same thing

A lot of the difference is in the back end of the alternator. The main area is the brush holder. One of the test that the Coast Guard does is a "self induced explosion test." They pretty much pump flammable gas into the alternator and spin it up to see how it blows up. Yes they destroy the alternator as part of the test.

  5. Curious as to why your using nvx wire instead of the products you sell on your website.

To answer your question, It wouldn't really make sense to break open 100+ battery cable kits just to have enough cable to wire the thing. All the cable ends, clamps, etc... would be wasted cost.

We don't sell wire by the spool or the foot other than XS power, and XS power has already helped us out with good pricing on the batteries. Even though we are a manufacturer, there is still always a budget for a build...

  7. I am here, patiently waiting on a dual alt kit for my Expedition :)

Patiently waiting for an alt for a Ford focus :]

    What year and engine?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    2001, and 2.0l.

all first gen focus cars are 2.0L, the alt is different on the 2.0L SOHC and the 2.0L DOHC.

    DOHC here.

    ah, mine is also DOHC.

Gotcha!!!!! We do can make a 170 AMP direct bolt in. That is the largest output because of the small case design Ford started with. If it was a SOHC we can get to about 240 AMPs.

Give me a call if you want to order it up.

    Thanks,

  8. no love for us Focus owners especially first gen. there have been alt relocate kits to accommodate a supercharger but never seen anyone utilize the knowledge of a relocation alt kit for a dual alt kit. seems to be plenty of room to do 2 alt setup.

Singer does one, which is what I'll have to end up doing. Unless Mechman has recently made one for this car. I'd love to stick with Mechman, but I gotta have an H/O alt one way or another.

Sorry ya'll we just are not going to get back in to mass production of brackets kits. We are purely focused on building the best alternators we can and doing that the better than anyone else right now. Now not to say down the line we will not get back into brackets, but for now we just are not.

  9. I know the GM people tend to dominate when it comes to visibility of aftermarket support. I am Ford guy thru and thru let me see where all my Ford people are!!!! We have a full line of units that are direct bolt in from the Escort to the Excursion from 170AMP's to 370AMP's for specific applications.
