  1. Unfortunately i don't have another amp. See, i could be wrong, but if it was the speakers wouldn't it happen with just 1? What are the chanced both midbass speaker and tweet playing 2 db higher on the left? It has to be something with the amp. Maybe something that controls left output for the channels
  2. Update. All connections were checked and they a all tight. I switched the rca for the tweeters only and the left is still doing the same. So am not sure whats going on there. The headunit was ruled out with that test i guess. Could it be the amplifier causing it? But why only the left lol both mid and high are on separate channels on the 4 channel an the left is significantly louder, weird that it happens only sometimes
  3. Good night SMD family. Hope all is well. This might be a bit to read. Anyone ever had any balancing issues with there left and right front stage? Info - i got a pair of 4ohm 6.5s and a pair of 4ohm tweeter. These are powered of a jl jd 400.4 in stereo (left right tweeter, left right midbass, everything on their own channel) with all gains set perfect. I realize that sometimes my left side sounds louder, i know thats a common issue due to the vehicle but i my case it isn't always. I thought my ears were playing tricks on me so i got some one with a db recorder and played a pink noise tone, with a mic in the center of my back seat, balance was on 0, where i toggled between channels by muting on my 80prs. On some occasions all measured exactly the same output through left and right and sometimes the left tweeter and left speaker were playing almost 3db higher than the right on the same pink noise. I also noticed that sometimes the left tweeter plays scratchy, distored and soft on lower volumes and once i raise the vol to 50% and higher, the tweeter sounds perfectly fine and the output goes to normal and if i reduce the volume it continues playing fine. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hey guys, hope all is well. All my previous builds were on the spl side i recently brought a new vehicle and i said to myself lets stray away from flexing windshields and try something new, so i gave SQ a shot. My equipment are, a jl jd 400.4, a pair of resilient sounds es65c and a pair of arc audio x2 slik domes. The 6.5s play 100-2500hz 24db slope and the tweets play 2500 all the way up,24db slope, headunit is a 80prs. Haven't added a sub yet,but i have a 10" in mind to play from 100hz down. All gains set with a dd1 and -5db tones, and doors deaden alottt. Well,u guessed, i quickly got tired of that and i miss the louder music, if i open my doors and turn the volume up, the mids quickly sounds muddy unless i cross them at about 160hz or higher, only then it sounds ok. Any tips for making this SQ build a bit louder without changing equipment? As always, thanks in advance
  5. I tried. It happens with both doors. When both are open,it plays fine. The wire it ran alongside the grommet. Is there any way to easily run it through the grommet?
  6. I did some more troubleshooting...it only goes into protect when my doors are closed. When there both open it plays fine
  7. Guys,i edited the post and added some more details. Please read it over and tell me if its still the wiring
  8. Faulty Equipment or Faulty Installation Hey guys, i need some help. I brought equipment new about a month ago and only had time to install it today. Car is a nissan tiida sedan and a front stage only was done in stereo. Gains was set with the onboard clipping indicator on amp. What was used- jl audio jd 400.4 new Pair Resilient sounds 6.5 75rms each 4ohm speaker new Pair of silk dome tweeters 50rms each new Nvx 0gauge ofc silver tinned Used pioneer 80prs from my previous install which had no issues known. Xfire RCAs new. Ofc 16 gauge for speaker runs Whats going on: system powers on fine and plays, once i reach half volume or above on the head unit the mids and highs cuts on and off or shorts and the amp goes into protect. I used a seat belt bolt in the back (sanded) for ground for the amp. When i set the gains playing a 1000hz tone without the speakers connected it did not go into protect, Only when playing music. The deck isnt cutting on and off, it remains on like normal when the shorting starts. Any assistance is appreciated.
  9. My mid range is just 2 6.5s 75rms in my front doors. I dont want to drown them out so am sticking under 750rms for bass. What are your thoughts on the re audio sex v2?
  10. Yea, i did look through. I saw all those brands but am more interested in like someone who has had hands on experience with one and was please you know
  11. Good day all, as the topic states, am in the market for the best quality 12" sub i can get for under $200. For a daily set up and planning to tune around 35hz in a ported box. I haven't brought a bass amp as yet but am looking for a sub around 500rms to 750rms and i will match it with a bass amp for power. My goal is to cover a 32-80hz bandwidth where my mids will take over at 80hz and sound great but still able to get a bit loud. Thank you all in advance and any recommendations is appreciated.
  12. Hahah looks loud. But i cant do that. I got to choose between fabricating the seat to fold or put it facing back
  13. So seats up and sub and port facing trunk will sound fine once i sound deaden? Or is it worth the time and money to fabricate a back seat and make them foldable and seal the sub facing forward?
  14. Good day all. I got a nissan tiida (versa) sedan and unfortunately the rear seats in the car cant fold down and it doesnt have a hand rest/cup holder in the middle to fold down. My system has a single 12" in the trunk and its geared towards a daily. Anyways, can i hack together something on the seat to make it foldable so i can seal the sub facing the cabin without removing the seat completely? Or am a forced to face the trunk only? Will that affect my SQ? Not chasing numbers or anything Thanks all
  15. Yoo buddy!! Whats up!! Build commimg along great. Got my mids amp yesterday but plans changes with the components. I ended up reselling and got 2 6.5s amd tweets running active... ok i got it, it says i need 33" total. What about xmax and cone area? That factors that in?
  16. I've been reading that the 12-16 rule for a slot port isn't fully accurate and i want to attempt a diy optimal sub box. Unfortunately i don't have any programs to do this for me and i can't seem to get any way to calculate it on pen and paper online, i was wondering if someone can assist me with calculating port area for my daily box using the following information. The sub is a 10" DD sub (610) cone area 78.54 The xmax is 14mm I will be giving the sub 1000rms The box will be 1.5cubes net. Am going for a 35hz tune. Can someone tell me the perfect port area that the sub will love..thankss
  17. Good Day guys, Would anyone be so kind to help me with an optimal slot port box design for a dd 610d4? https://ddaudio.com/series/600-series/ The sub will be wired to 2ohms and i have approximately 750rms to power the sub at that 2ohm for a daily setup. Sub will be going in a nissan tidda walled in the trunk facing the cabin. I am hoping to cover the 30hz-75hz range where my midbass will pick up from there. Looking for that loud lows lol As always, thanking you in advance for the magic box!!
  18. Not looking to upgrade, trying to make the best of that 500rms amp
  19. Good day all, trying my hands on adding a single 12" sub to my small set up. I got a 500rms mono to play it and i must be able to get a dual 2 version. Soo, a pair of components are in the front only and that will be covering from 100hz going up. Am thinking to cover the rest of the spectrum from 30hz to 100hz with the sub, i plan on tuning around 32-33hz if that will work as most of my music is upwards of 33hz. System is geared towards SQL but leaning more to the SPL side even though i cant do much with 500rms but am aiming to work magic with that lol. Anywho, my budget can be anything as ill save for whats "right for me" however,my issue is availability in my country. I cant ship stuff in so i have to get whats already here. The brands available to me are american bass, resilient sounds, dd audio, sundown audio, deafbounce, massive audio and re audio. Any sub recommendations from those brands will work best for me? Am also trying a DIY box so an optimal slot port box design is greatly appreciated, space is not an issue but its a relatively daily, small set up so nothing to crazy. Thanks in advance guys
  20. https://www.elektramobileaudio.com/α1200-1d-monoblock-amplifier/ Anyone has any experience with this? Not seeing any dynos or reviews online. Am seeing its pretty cheap and i know you get what you pay for in car audio. But am also working on a budget soo it is what it is. Is it solid, does it do rated?
