  1. Definitely old school DD, but i was thinking 500 was a little steep for it.
  2. If you look there are 4 sets of leads coming out of it. Therefore i would assume its a quad coil. Edit: What Lbox88 said. Haha.
  3. Just stumbled upon this little sub. Never seen a quad coil DD before. Worth $500? http://tulsa.craigslist.org/ele/2817755725.html
  4. And if you don't need pretty colored wire, go with High strand welding cable. 100% copper and runs about $3.00 a foot.
  5. Just the 2 biggest project i've done so far (desk when i was 15, bed when i was 16), and that was just back when i was in high school. Need to get some good tools again before i'll be doing anything like that anytime soon.
  6. The sub was sitting right behind the passenger seat, facing forward. The box is slanted to get maximum air space, and maximum leg room. Port is firing the drivers side. Current setup with 2 DD 1510's is a ton louder and lower. But, i do miss how the Fi sounded.
  7. I have a 99 Dodge. I have seen that done in a newer style dodge which has a lot more room than mine (even though 94-01 has more than any other truck excluding the post 01 Dodge's). All i can fit comfortably behind the seats is about 10" at the bottom and 7" at the top. Any more than that and it would be uncomfortable to ride in. I have already started the box though. Here's a link to it. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/120874-2-10-box-build-for-dodge-1500/
  8. I have a Dodge. Haha. Quite a bit more room behind the seats than anything else. (and still be able for a 6'2" person to sit comfortably).
  9. I've modeled it in WinISD and it looks like 2.3 cubes with 30 sq in of port tuned to 34 hz will peak around 40 (theoretically). I can only fit up to 2.4 cubes so that's my volume limit. I've only modeled this though, and would like actual real world opinions on what would be best suited for me with the power i'm running. Also, what would be louder to the meter (since both will be the same loudness to the ear): port firing drivers side, or firing passengers side?
  10. I'm about to sell my Fi Bl 12 and was looking at the SA series subs. I've never done 10's, so i was looking at doing 2 10's (of course the box will be behind the seat). I can fit up to 2.8 cubes behind the seat, but looking at about 2.3 after port and sub displacement. My current setup does a 140.0 on the dash (at 40 hz), the box is tuned to 28 hz, and it smashes the lows like no other. I'm wanting to know what would be a good box volume and port area to run 2 10's in that would get me into that range, or hopefully higher. Also, i'll be running about 1300-1400 wrms to the pair. I know there are a lot of factors that go into how loud a setup is, so i would like to tune the box to 34 hz for a good overall sound. I've had my fun with the LOWWWWSS, but i'd like it to be a little better 45 hz and up. Thank you.
  11. Finally got the sub in. These aren't my pictures, but i'll be getting some of my own this weekend. With only 500 watts its sounding very good and getting surprisingly loud.
  12. Figured i would post up a little video since i got out of class early. Tell me what y'all think. And this is only off about 1000 watts. And watch in 720hd.
  13. Yeah, it's just a shadow. Haha. The wood maybe sticks out 1/16", but how the sub hit it makes it look like a big gap or a big overhang. For only using a jig saw, i think it turned out pretty well.
  14. That's what i'm thinking is going to happen. However, it's 5 years old and soft as hell, so i think 750 will be a decent amount of power for it. I'll try to talk him into a new SSD if this sub ever gives out, but the abuse i've seen this sub take (i had it for the first 3 years of it's life, and trust me, it didn't have an easy life. Haha.) i think it will hold out for a little while longer. And how would i attach the speaker wire to a t nut? That will be the purpose of the dual nuts on each bolt (tighten down the first one really good, then put the ring on, then the second nut, and tighten the 2 nuts together.).
  15. This is just a quick box i made this afternoon to fit behind the seats of a mid 90's single cab Chevy 1500. The box is 2.0 cubes with 25 sq in of port tuned to 32 hz. It will be powered with about 750 watts, so we'll see if he needs a bigger amp or not, but this should be a pretty efficient box for his needs. "Terminals" are 2 5/16" bolts through the wood. Needed to have the spacer ring to get more mounting depth for the sub to fit. Here's a couple of pictures of it finished.
  16. I made 14 cuts about 1/4" apart from each other, and i cut ALL but 1/16" through the wood. This is my first kerf box. It was pretty easy to do, just takes time.
  17. Blow through. But, money needs to be spent somewhere else first, unless he loves exploding CV shafts at the sight of a mudhole. Impressive truck none the less.
  18. As of right now the kid i built this for wants to leave it bare. And he says his amp puts out 750 watts rms, but i don't know what brand of amp it is. And thanks for the compliments. Im interested to see how it sounds.
  19. I didn't get any pictures during the process (camera was down and decided to not come on until it was all done). But the box is 3.3 cubic feet with 48 sq in of port tuned to 32 hz. This is also the first time i've ever done a kerf port, and i thought it turned out pretty good. Questions? Comments?
  20. When was this and who put this show on? I'm in Stillwater and never knew there were any audio shows in Guthrie. And, will there be another show this year there?
  21. No problem Cliff. It really was a pleasure to get to hear this beast. Haha. Here's a video of the Extreme run i forgot to post, along with some pictures of the setup.
  22. Thanks guys. And this isn't my car. It's a friend of mine from Missouri. He's AQFIREBIRD on here i think. It's a very violent car to sit in. And these videos were taken after about 5 demos and an Extreme run, so everything was getting hot and it wasn't as loud as it could be, and it still felt like it would rip your face off. Haha.
  23. Here's a few videos from todays comp at Car Toys in Tulsa, OK. Equipment is 4 15" Nightshades, 4 Sundown 3500's, 7 Kinetic batteries, and TMA components. Can do a 157+ dB on the dash, and a 141+ dB 1 Foot outside the passenger window. And remember to watch in HD. Questions? Comments?
