  1. I had a guy over on soundsoulution telling me that I had to run a 3 way active system and that I needed to spend all this money on a front stage in order to keep up with my 18s. Hell all I want is some replacements for my door that will sound good while the 18's go at it. I know once I turn the Bass knob all that will be heard is Bass. I'm content with that. I just can't believe that I need to $2k components or a 3 way active system to achieve this.

  2. Triple post FTL.

Glad you decided to dump the Kickers?

Well that's kind of a good and bad thing. Good cause I was able to get a great deal on those DC subs. Bad because I really really wanted those Kickers. I've wanted to run the Solo X since they've been out. I was just so mad at uBid for how they did that acution, and the fact that I was kind of wanting to try something new that I decided to give DC a try. I just now have to wait before I can hear them though.

Now that is really FTL

  3. lvl 4 18's correct?

Yeah these are 18's. The basket should have given that bit of info away. I had to go with the d1's because I wanted to get a 1 ohm load to the Autotek. I found out from Rusty that they only do the level 4's in either 2 or 1 ohm voice coils. I even paid extra for the level 5 coils too. I live in an apartment and I usually build my boxes at my father's house. He's in the process of moving so that why its gonna take me a while to at least get the box built. It sucks cause I want to hear them so so bad but I've got no choice but to wait.

To be honest, I'm starting to get tired of looking at everyone else's systems off of youtube, photobucket, and myspace. My computers can't reproduce the bass like I like it.

  4. if youre going to buy kicker online dont go ebay or else where, go to hifisoundconnection.com they are an authorised dealer for kicker and sell brand new amps and refurbs, cheaper than what our local delaers pay for the items, ( i know this to be a fact because my buddie is pissed i am able to buy kicker amps cheaper than what he can get them for lol)....so if the amp goes bad you have kickers 100% support and warrenty

You do know that ubid is an Authorized internet dealer of Kicker products?

  5. Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like some of you guys have brought from wheelsnext.com so I at least know that they're reputable. I've been saving money every since I brought the truck back last April so I think I have enought to buy offline. I'm still gonna go around to a few local shop here in STL to see if I could get a better deal. I just wanted to keep my options open. I know when I was looking around last fall the prices were way way to high for compared to what I was seeing online.

  6. 4 Wheel parts has there rims and tires buy all the tires and rims they mount and balance them and ship to you for $89 dollars

    Hey Aaron,

Have you ever brought rims and/or tires from this site before? I'm trying to hear from those who have brought from online. I want to hear what their experience was like buying rims from an online store as opposed to buying local.

  7. Get em from a shop.. then you have someone to blame if there is something wrong. They are gonna hit you with freight (not shipping) FREIGHT! then tires.. they can cut you a deal on tires if you're buying rims and mount+ balance them for you..I once saw a man drop 11k on 28's. So 6k isnt bad for 26's.. but get a good name brand. Alot of companies like american racing have weak chrome that flakes off. Its worth the extra money if you plan on keeping them forever, which you wont.

I understand paying $6k for some solid 26s, but what I'm saying is that if I buy locally I would be paying more like $9 -$12k for some 26s. I can do $6k...barely, I just don't want to if I don't have to. I'm not quite sure I follow you on freight, could you shed some more light on that?

  8. I just got my fed returns back and I'm really close to my rim and tire budget. So I want to get some good rims for a decent price, yet the only problem is I don't know where to buy them from. I've been looking every where from www.wheelsnext.com , www.superbuytires.com,www.DiscoutWheels.com, and eBay. I've never brought anything from the internet that cost this much before, so I want to hear from those who've brought wheels and tires offline. How was the experience? Would you do it again? Who did you use? What steps should I take in buying rims from the internet, so that I can insure that I'm not gonna get screwed out of my money?

The reason why I'm not trying to go to a local shop is because the prices here are ridiculous. For instance one shop I went to wanted $4k for a set of 22' TIS rims without the tires. I'm trying to do either 24s or 26s for my suburban, and if 22s cost $4 - $6k then I know that the sizes I'm looking for will be way more expensive.

  9. anyone see it yet?

This sh!t was pure garbage. If your into the whole Blaire Witch type of movie then this is for you. Myself and about 90% of the audience in the theater with me tonight thought that we could have did better with the $9 we spent on tickets......Well $18 I spent cause I took the wife with me. This was by far the worst movie I've seen in a theater in quite a long time....(Date Movie  ) They spent most of the time filming the damn ground....the guy holding the camer is annoying as f'ck and the.....(I'll call it thing) you didn't see much of.

    I forgot to add this.......

The movie was so bad that people where leaving the movie right in the middle of it. Now that's what I call a bad bad movie.

  10. Okay as it stands right now I'm trying to decide on who to go with when it come to running a 2nd alternator for my truck. So I'm deciding between Dave DC Electric and Dom Iraggi. Here is the low down on my options

Dave Dual Alternator Kit will include:

    - 1 300-250 amp AD224alternator (claims to do 130 amp at idle due to the 1.8inch drive pulley)

    - 1 dual alternator mounting bracket designed to fit a 2007 suburban

    - New belt for the alternators, relays, and regulator harness

    - Detailed instructions on how to install and test the alternators

    - About two weeks wait time

Quoted $660 which includes shipping cost.

    Iraggi Alternator Kit will include:

    - 1 300 amp alternator (suppose to do around 100 -110 amps at idle)

    - 1 dual alternator mounting bracket designed to fit a 2007 suburban

    - Wires, belt, and harness not included

    - About two weeks wait time

Quoted $530 which includes shipping cost.

I'm leaning more towards the DC Electric kit because it comes with additional materials that I would need, such as the newer drive belt and wiring harness. Not to mention that it will come with instruction on how to properly do this. This will be my first time installing dual alternators so any guidance I can get will be helpful. The only problem is that beside the article I found on Car Audio and Electronics, I haven't heard of anyone using Dave DC Electric company before. I have no feed back to on the quality of their product. With Iraggi, I know that his product is out there with a number of people that can vouch on the quality of his alternators. The price including the group buy here at SMD is right, the only issue is that I would have to go and buy a lot of additional items in order to make this work. Since the truck is so new, I'm almost sure that some of these items I'm gonna have to get from a dealer($$$$).

So this is were I'm at right now. I want to make a decision soon because I plain on ordering tomorrow afternoon. You guys have any input to share before I make my decision? Anything I may be over looking? In other words, if this was your decision, who would you go with and why?

  11. My top 3 things I have to do before I die:

    1) 3sum.......I'm sorry but I have to have this as my number 1 goal.

    2) Have a child. I want to be a father and so having kids is something I'm gonna look forward to. both my wife and I should make pretty f'kin cool parents.

    3) To own at least one of the following vehicles in my lifetime (1968-1969-970 Dodge Charger or 1971-1972 Plymouth RoadRunner/GTX). My tucks or Dodge/Chevy but when it comes to muscle I'm strictly MOPAR.

  12. I was a little upset that I only had two doors open and he had 4

You sure about that one chief? I looked at the video and it looks like you had more than just your two front doors open. You're not counting your gullwing rear doors as open in that video?

    Edit:

After a second viewing of your vid I did see that your front passanger door was closed but I couldn't tell about the rear passager one. So I stand corrected......maybe?

  13. Damn, I guess I'm the only one here that uses 3 monitorsPosted Image

Sorry for the crappy picture but I had to use my good ole trusty cell phone to take a picture. This is of course my work desk but it gets the job done a lot more efficiently than when I was working with just one. WHat you see here is two Dell 19' monitors and in the center is a ViewSonic 20, running off a matrox video card.
