  1. wow i didnt know that EMT-Is can administer morphine down there, i dont think they they can up here :(

That must have been pretty interesting...I wasnt always the shortest or lightest person on the calls (im not fat btw haha)...but nonetheless i didnt get to ride in the med-evac yet...is it private helicopters out here is is it state troopers? Its trooper here...

We can't. THe medic I was riding with put it in my hand and said do it. He also let me push 2mg dilauted IVP...slowly.....

  2. I've seen some crazy (actually stupid) shit people do as im now doing clinical ride on ambulances for my EMT-I class. I had a call 3 weeks ago where a 16 Y/O M Pt who through a copious amount of GUN POWDER into a bond fire, well needless to say, he had 70% full thickness burns to nearly 50% of his body. He was going into decompensated shock, and was only breathing @ 7 breaths P.M. I through a endotracial tube down his throat, and started IV's, and administed some morphine to help the pain. Meanwhile the only thing his mother cared for was she was screaming at the father to make sure her ham sandwich didn't burn...... Then my medic called for Life flight to land. Fucking great day! I loaded to kid on the helicopter, and that was it. Moral of the story..............DONT THROW GUNPOWDER ON A FIRE!!!!

  3. Well to answer all of your questions simply, yes. Any electrical upgrade you do will benefit your system. As far as making it louder, well, that's not always the case. If you had big voltage drop before, then you will be louder for longer periods of time. And the higher the voltage going into the amp means higher voltage coming out. Sometimes the difference isn't noticable to the ear, but to the meter it will be.

As far as your impedance, My MOJOs are wired up with very long 8AWG wire but I only have a .3 ohm rise standing per circuit. Unless you're using 12 gauge or less, you should be fine.

    Im using 8ga speaker wire......

  4. box rise. your 1.4 is perfectly fine, hell some people get rise up to 2.5ohms from 1

Does this mean the box is well spec'ed? Accordman (I havent seen him on here lately) spec'ed it out for me. 16CuFT w/ 158SqIN of port (I think) 34Hz

and in answer to the first two questions, a stronger voltage under load will help and allow your amp(s) to make more power, so as long as your dual alt setup gets you better voltage under load (and it should) you should see better performance.

Thanks for your input, appreciate it. I believe the MD3D has a unregulated power supply, so 15+V should be good for the amp I would think.

  5. Hello to everyone. Instead of making 3 posts, I'm hoping I can ask all my Q's inside this post. To make a long story short, Thanks to ROB @ DC Power, I have a dual alt kit coming next week to install on my 02 tahoe, a MLA 15.3v module for both alts, and was wondering these 3 questions:

    (1) Do you think I will be able to notice a difference now with running 2 alts? IE: Will the bass hit "stronger" now possibly.

    (2) Do you think the MLA module will help overall system response as-well? I'm thinking that the extra voltage that it supplies, will increase overall output? (My USAmps MD3D should maybe respond well to it?)

    (3) For shits and giggles, I just did an OHM load check on my 2 18"s (Fi BL's) There D1's and I have them wired into a 1 OHM load, and the reading my multimeter gave me was 1.4 Ohm (I have just 2 wires coming out the box, all wiring is internal, so this reading is with both drivers connected, you know what I mean) Does this ohm load reading OK? I would have thought a 1ohm load would read 1 ohm, but im hoping you tell me that this is fine. I havent been hard on these babies really at all, and there only 8 months old with maybe 10hrs of use.

Just an FYI, WHEN I initially installed everything, I did 2 runs of 0ga to my back batts for the hell of it. Do you think that those 2 runs of 0ga will benifit me now with the upgraded amperage I'll have now with 2 alts? The BIGIII is also done, and all in 0ga. I like to do things right the first time.

  6. I'm currently using a MD3D (08 model) powering my 2 Fi BL18's and it fucking rocks out. I used USAmps back in the mid-to-late 90's and even though USAmps aren't made in sunny Florida anymore, the MD line of amps just rock out. Personally I would get the MD3D.........Yes I know sundown is good.........

  7. Does anyone possibly know this answer? I hate having the feeling that what I bought a few months ago is now a piece of shit. Are the new BL's that "MUCH" better? My version of the BL's I have have the tinsel leads into the spider, like these new ones, and have all the upgraded options as-well. Should I just keep what I got, or upgrade to the new ones? Each of my BL's are seeing ~1200watts a piece.

  8. I'd go the two Alt's and the MLA you have done everything else right, might as well go all the way! :hairtrick:

I thought that would be the better way. My 2 HC800 can just hang on for a little longer I guess. I emailed MLA about a dual alt setup. I'll just wait to see what they can offer. I really would like to see what the MLA module has to offer! I think that would be great with 2 alts.

  9. My currentl setup is in my sig, above and beyond that, I'm looking into upgrading my electrical. My USAmps MD3D really does draw alot of current, and my 1 stock alt really cant keep up I DONT THINK. With $500 im thinking either a dual alt kit (Keep my current alt, and purchase a 200a+ alt and the needed bracket to mount 2 alts, and a MLA module for 2 alts...OR... upgrade my 2 HC800 rear batts to 2 much bigger batts. Which would help me more you think? Would going the 2 alt route, and the MLA module, really make a noticable difference you think? I notice when I hit a VERY LOW NOTE, for extended period of time (30 seconds or longer) my protect light starts to glow on the amp (Never shuts off though, and my voltage gauge reads @ 13.1 at the lowest) could 2 alts w/ MLA module help this? And could this all be had for under $500? Thanks

  10. I'm currently using my box that I built for my BL's, but just am getting tired of the crappy finish I put on it, and really dont like the look of it anymore, and just am terrible with making boxes. Looking to see if anyone out there has a great box (Sturdy, and well constructed) to house my 2 18" BL's? I know shipping will be costly, but really interested. Anyone? THanks

  11. Hey everyone, been a while since i've posted last, however im starting to get back to fine tuning my setup and noticed on Fi's website they have a new option called hyper pole piece (or close to that) and was wondering is the new 09 model much better then the 08 models? I ordered my 2 18" BL's mid year in 08 (August 08) and it is fully loaded with every option and cooling etc.. they still sound excellent, but was wondering if selling them and buying these new models are even worth the time? Thanks

  12. I have a MD3D amp, and I've always left the Hz setting to around 80Hz (setting goes from 40Hz-240Hz) as I thought 80Hz was about right. Lately either im getting used to what I have, but it just didnt "FEEL RIGHT" as far as bass is concerned. I moved the Hz setting to around 100Hz, and that really made a nice difference. Is it OK to have this @ 100Hz, and or what do you recommend? Thanks
