  1. If your running 1100 to each sub I'd stick to 8 gauge or 10gauge. When in doubt go bigger, It won't hurt.

My whole reason for trying to switch over to 12GA wire is so that I can go squeeze 2 wires into the terminals on the BL's, so I can come out of the box with just 2 holes and not 8 like I currently have. I'll show you what I mean, I have a pic of the back side of my box. Im wanting to do the sub wiring internal to the box, and just have my 1+ and 1- wire coming out the box. I'm currently using 8Ga wire and that shit is thick, and can just barely get 1 wire into the speaker terminals.

  2. Here is a quote from that chart

    12 gauge: ~21.8 amperes

    8 ohms - <3800 watts

    6 ohms - <2850 watts

    4 ohms - <1900 watts

    3 ohms - <1425 watts

    2 ohms - <950 watts

    1 ohm - <475 watts

Im running 2 18" BL's D1's wired to 1 OHM. Reading the above chart states that using 1OHM, I CANT exceed 475watts.... so if im reading that correctly, i CAN NOT use 12GA if im supplying 1100+RMS watts to each BL under 1 OHM....Correct? Thanks

  3. Bernie Mac was hospitalized with pneumonia on August 1, 2008 and the following day, a source close to the family said that Mac was in "very, very critical" condition. He was recovering from pneumonia, most likely brought on by his sarcoidosis, in a Chicago hospital. His publicist, Danica Smith, said that he was expected to make a full recovery and that he was responding well to treatment.

On August 9, 2008 it was reported by the Chicago Sun-Times that Bernie Mac had died,[ with confirmation by the Associated Press about the cause of his death.

holy shit, I never heard of this on the news yet....... R.I.P Bernie

  4. Two stock alts would have a little better low RPM output than a single 300 amp unit, but a little less on top. I would do it if you can get the bracket cheap.

$61 for a stock AD244 sounds awfull cheap though, I would make sure you are getting the right thing. It might just be a CS130D which only does 70/105amps stock.

Lester Numbering system is a 8237, this is a 140amp alt.... I pay 61.74 for this particular unit. You all have talked me into it, MLA does it again!

  5. Keep in mind that I work at a "mom and pop" type summit/jegs parts store here in west palm beach and can get a stock 140amp alt for my tahoe for $61...

I've been searching for an H/O alt for my 02 tahoe, of course I see 250+amp units for ~300+bones. I emailed MLA to see if they to sold ALTs to compliment their module(s), and the answer I got was "no" HOWEVER they offer a dual bracket setup for running 2 stock alts and a module kit type of setup. Would running 2 new stock alts, and their module setup be just as good as running 1 HO alt, or might it be even better? MLA seems to be a great shop, an offered extremely fast response to my email, Thanks Chris! MLA, please dont think i'm doubting you, just looking for a general consensus on this..........

  6. Im in the ATL area and am always on 285/85/75/ and I20 everyday. I'm inside the Atlanta area all the time, If I ever see it, I will call the cops for sure, and I went ahead and printed this post off so if the day does come and I see it, call the cops, I will hand them this info for you. HOWEVER, the fucked up part is, I doubt we will ever see it again (atleast not in noticeable fashion) But im here for you brotha, another set of eyes is better then none. Wish you luck,

  7. So I was lucky enough to catch one of the Mechmans custom alternators. But I forgot something.....it came with the stock harness for an 01 yukon which is what it bolts up to. But my question is, is there anyway to find out what those 4 wires are since Im dropping it in my accord? Im gonna have to splice them in which shouldnt be a big deal, if only I find out what they are.

have you checked over at www.the12volt.com ?? They have wiring diagrams for LOTS of cars/trucks.

  8. LOL I love when people say they've broke windows with there speakers. I remember a kid from when I was in school had a dakota and two 12" infinity and a 1200 or 1400 watt four channel amp. He had it bridge one on each pair of channels it would shut off after like vol 15. He would always be like I have it shut off when it gets to lud so it doesnt blow out my window agian.

ROTMFFLMAO........... Back in 1997 I had a Mercury Sable that I walled 4 15 cerwin vega strokers in, powered with my VLX400 amp, and everytime I would hit some REALLY LOOOOOW notes, that amp would cut out, and flip into protect mode. I used to tell my buddies who were in the car at the time, "I have it do this, as it is an automatic cooling feature" Needless to say after I purchased some brand of H.O ALT (cant remember what brand I went with) and re-did all power wires and grounds, and added a few batts to the bitch, fucker hit harder then ever. BUT NEVER, NEVER would I say It would break my windshield LOL!..... God damn I miss my high school days!

  9. that sounds really good. are they over/underrated at all? and do do they have 1/o wire terminals?

    Bills

Dont have first hand knowledge with the AQ amps, I only know what I have read about them..... People have benched them, they put out more then rated @ 14.4, no worries there. Search google for "AQ2200D" and you will see some damn good posts pop up. They are 1/0ga power, and ground connections.

  10. My experience with amps is rather limited, but I would like to voice my opinion anyway........

    1) for ~600 bones you can find a US Amp MD3D 2000w RMS and underrated as people say. I have this on my 2 18" Loaded Fi BL's, very nice amp, and clean wattage!

    2) The AudioQue line of amp people say are of excellent quality and affordable. They have a AQ1200D, which is 1200w RMS @ 1ohm which sells for $249, An AQ2200D, which is 2200w RMS @1ohm and sells for $389, and the big brother to them all the AQ3500D which is 3500w RMS @1ohm and I think it sells for $689???

These are my opinions, I enjoy my US Amp MD3D, and I like to support "mom and pop shops" so AudioQue get my vote there! Hope this was some assistance for you.

  11. My Bl's are pretty loose right now. But I slam the fu ck out of them

Is thAt normal? My prior speakers that i was using (mmats P2.5 12"s) feel the same since day 1, and i've been using them for 2 years now! I guess I could say, my speakers aren't loose as fu*k, but rather not as stiff as I thought they should be.....

  12. OK, little update................ Let me ask this question: if you put your hands on the cone of your subs (Say an 18" BL like mine that has 40minutes of SLAM TIME) and gently apply "LITTLE" force down, does your cone move easily? Both of mine feel about the same now, but would think a speaker of this size, and motor would take a little "MORE" force to move the cone assembly. Scott from Fi said in my reply email to keep this email he sent, for if ANY issues accure down the road, we'll recone/replace it for free..... I just dont understand when people say "the speaker is 6months old and still has a STIFF SUSPENSION" Is how I described my BL's still a "STIFF" suspension? Do my subs seem alright to you guys, and I just need to shut the fu*k up now, or should I take Fi's offer and send them in? Please keep in mind these subs only have ~40 minutes of play time....... THank you all!
