In the right enclosure and for ur budget, u cant go wrong with a kicker 15" CVR
i was actually just looking at them i have a 1.63cu per chamber box think they would sound alright
-
is that just 150 for just one speaker?
whoops I forgot to menchion that
-
Well my ol' trusty MTX 12's are no longer any good, voice coil got warped , and so now it just makes this awful noise when there playing so i decided that it was time to get new ones but what do you suggest in or around the 100 - 150 dollar section (there going in a jeep i dont want anything expensive in there)any help is appreciated

i had a nissan truck that when you turned the turn signals on the battery metter would move alot (10v -14v) but it never seemed to really pull much power i think something was going on with the cluster

Hi there, i saw the amp listed 17.7v, the rms also increase, in physic power and voltage is directly proportional.
so, how to get '17.7v' or around that voltage? my car now is at around 14v.
is there any 16v battery?
what alternator recommend? running in belt.
another question, i saw some of them are using 'metal chain' belt to run the alternator, so that's mean need to modify whole of the engine belt pulley?
im pretty sure if you put a 16v battery in a car your gonna fry something i would just stick with a normal 12v amp

i have a 12v computer style fan from radio shack i paid $19 that worked miracles in my trunk with out the fan my old amp would cut off after 30 mins of playin hard i added the fan and it was fine i have also used the large stinger fan that also worked fine i paid 30 or so for it,

yea thats the way mine does and its got some years on it

Who puts the power wire into the speaker outputs? They are labeled.
when i went mudding the 12v came undone and well
-
You probably want a crossflow fan mounted in a kind of cool way, but you could just slap a couple of regular fans on the amp wherever it gets hottest and it'll still help cool it enormously.
Alternatively you could find out why it gets so hot in the first place...
yea i might just put 2 on each side, im guessing the reason it gets so hot is because i do play very it loud for a long time or there might be something wrong with the amp it has had 12v on one side of the speaker output but its never showed any problems

not a good example a laptop is enclosed he said his seat is 5" off the ground so it may help a little but not like if it was encased.
so what would be my best thing to go with
-
Unless they are isolated from "fresh" air, a fan isnt going to help. If they are in an enclosure almost any fan will help. I would find a squirrel cage style fan as I have found them to move the most air. If budget is an issue I would go with just a regular fan simular to the ones used in desktop computers.
yea thats what i was thinking about an computer fan i have the amp under my seat but the seat is like 5 inchs off the ground so its not suffocated
-
Well if you know me when im my jeep ill play my music pretty loud but after a while the amp for my subs will get really hot and turn off which i can understand that but i was looking for like a fan or something to help cool it down any help would appreciated
-
well you gotta point
-
the problem is i have no where else to put it close
-
ok thanks
-
i have the ground on the seat belt screw its the only place and the amps at a 2ohm load which is what it handles and it still gets hot even if i dont play it
-
yes it is 8ga but only 6inches of it
-
I'm gonna throw this out there.... it might be a little crazy but I would upgrade those power and speaker wires. And while your at it, get the base of that amp off the carpet. Put a spacer or something under it to get better flow
its 2ga power but i have it steped down to 8ga but its only 6 inches the 2ga wouldnt fit my connectors and my speaker wires need bigget
-
try the fan, mine was 10 bucks at walmart in the automotive area, its a small 10 amp fan, but does well for my amps
yea i'll do that i kinda figured it was gonna need a fan
-
Check the sub with a DMM to make sure it's still a 2ohm load and not something lower.
i did before i ever hooked them because the amp can only handle 2 ohms higher or below that puts it into protect
-
how did you set the gain? with any kind of meter, or just turned it up till it played?
looks like 4ga power wire, but I can't tell, you may want to try 0 ga
Where is it grounded?
If its in a small area it just may not be hetting enough airflow, try a 12v fan you can plug into the cigarette lighter and see if it helps, and if it does add a more permanent fan with proper wiring and switchs.
pics of where it is installed will do the best for us
i just set it until there was no distortion its 2ga wire and it grounded on the seat belt screw only place in a jeep its mounted up under my rear seat you think an amp that big would come with a fan or something but yea it up under my rear seat
-
What. the. fuck.?
Clean that wiring up.
What's your gain set to?
this was before i had done any cleaning up i had just got it mounted its set at 1/4 way
