  1. here's an idea..

If youre lucky enough to have some sort of sideskirt panel on your car like mine...you can fit plenty of wire in them..

    Power runs..

    Ground runs..

And the sideskirt goes right over them...never would know theyre there..

As for connecting them all...you'll probably want to make/have someone make you some busbars, something along these lines..

And dont forget the fuses and fuse holders...once you step up to multiple runs in a daily driver...you'll need fuses on each end of your power runs (assuming you have batts in the rear), which really adds up in cost :(

But good luck...and you can find copper for busbars at stormcopper.com ....they have a great selection and good prices imo

Drilling holes in the copper and then tapping them will make life really easy on you rather than bolting the ring terminals to the copper...just have to find some short bolts/cut down some bolts and youre set :)

That all looks great man, but next time you might wanna use all black UV resistant zipties and wire tiedowns. I say next time, and I hope for your sake there is no next time, but most likely after a few summers those will get brittle and break.

  2. Harborfreight is soooo cheap lol. I ordered a set of their wrenches and broke the 14mm during the first use.

That's what you get for trying to get a quality product from them.

You gotta be smart to actually get a good deal from HF. If it's something you're just gonna use once or throw away items then it's good, but if you're trying to get good quality stuff, it's not gonna happen.

Wrenches and stuff you're probably gonna break and waste your money. Chip brushes on the other hand you're gonna just throw away after the first time you use them.

  3. I HOPE theres no friction on the vc of that sub.

You gotta remember. All a sub (or speaker) is, is a coil and a magnet. The coil alternates polarities causing the attached cone to generate soundwaves. The more power on the coil, the stronger the waves. The more power on the coil, the more heat generated through effeciency loss (there is NO 100% effecient item on this planet!) Your coils are going to get warm. Just make sure they are seeing clean power.

I was thinking the same thing, "what the hell is that dude talking about friction..."

Think of your voice coil as a resistor. Technically that's what it is. Anything that resists the flow of electricity is going to create a change of energy in the form of heat.

  4. Painting the emblem should be similar to how I painted my upper lip of my grill. Just sand down the metal with a medium to fine grit paper or sanding block, then make sure its very clean, use some degreaser on it. Put a coat of primer on it, let it dry, give it plenty of time. If you see any dust specs, wet sand it with a very very fine grit. Then put on another layer of primer (I don't know why but I did). Let it dry, time and preparation are everything. After that 2-3 coats of your desired color, wet sanding if small specs arise, and then once you have it the finish/gloss you desire seal it up with a clear coat and give it atleast 2-3 days to dry completely. Multiple clears don't hurt I suppose. That is just what I did to a front lip on my car, and after about 3 months no chipping what so ever. I'm no professional painter so my technique could be completely off.

I'm happy how it came out.

Which part are we talking about dude? The section at the edge of the hood between the hood and grill?

  5. It's your voice coils in the subs that are getting warm. It's normal for any mechanical electronics to give off a little heat. Think of them like your engine in your car, you want them to warm up a little before they will be performing at their best.

Just don't over power them or they can get REALLY warm and hot and can damage them.

  6. Good info. I do know how to wire stuff up and actually benefit from the original Best Buy install they did with my rockford amp and rockford components. I actually have a temporary amp wired in now.

what I am ashamed to admit is that I don't know the actual stats on the speakers because they are sealed in the box (i've never 'seen' them), so I will open them asap so I can request help without wasting any of you people's time.

that alpine amp is just such a good deal I bid on one last week then canceled it because i don't know if I can use it (max I would pay for it is $100 so.. a steal!)

Alot of times the subs wont say what wattage ratings are on the sub itself. What kind of subs are they, if you can get the model number then you can find out the specs.

As for amps I see you're looking for multi channel amps in your other thread. Why not just go with a mono block? Alot of multichannels wont be bridgeable as they are more geared for component speakers and such.

  7. just wondering if i could but the subs under the seats or not :unknw:

Small subs+seat lift+ass cushion bracing+lots of creativity... Yeah it could be done.

Get enough volume in the box for the subs, downfire them and leave enough of a gap between the floor and sub and actually I think it'd sound pretty damn good as well.

  8. How big is the plexi? If it's manageable size then just go ahead and find someone with a drill press and use the press. That way you can control it alot better and you would be WAY less likely to screw it up. Just take it slow and take breaks because the drill bit will get hot and start to melt the plastic at where you're drilling and look like crap at the hole. Nothing difficult here, just take your time and go easy at it.

  9. Chode I think you've just answered the economic crisis dude, that is a BOMB Idea! But what do you do about the sugar then? Shit just hit me... DUH, they've got sugar packs at the table!

So you're getting a free glass, water, AND sugar. All you really gotta buy is the koolaid mix.

    Genius my friend.

I do similar at the movie theaters, I'm a slender guy so I can fit cans of bee... *SODA*... in my back pants pocket and then you don't have to spend 8 goddamn dollars on a drink at the food counter. Movies are a ripoff.
