  1. The general 12-16sq per is after displacements. Using Torres will tell you your net airspace and the amount of port area. And port area is simply HxW, say your looking for 27sqin of port, you would want 9Hx3W. You do not take length into account.

well, you will eventually take length into account, when it comes time for tuning :)

but for just port area, you are right :)

  2. Reason i shoot things down is because i want to know the correct way to do things and i always thought there was a different way to.do it..there is a lot of false info on these forums sometimes. But ill take your guys word for it. And just because i dont have experiance in tuning a box doesnt mean i cant spend 10 grand on my system?

stickied posts are generally not false information LOL

  3. Ive messed around torres calc before.. i just always remember people saying they did something else for ports.. i mean each subwoofer has its own values with different paremeters.. im pretty sure theres more then just typing in the dimensions on a box calculator.

No. It's that easy. Knowing how much port they will like is te difference. Torres will tune the port the way you tell it to. Knowing WHAT to do and how much port to give the sub is the difference. The Torres calc is only as smart as the user using it.

lol, maybe he should go get advice from these experts... because everyone around here knows that it really is just that easy...

this calc is perfect for every day boxes, now 4th, 6th, 8th order shit, yeah, you wouldnt want to use it...

  4. i never said torres wasnt good, i just remember reading other peoples posts about bulding boxes, and the box "experts" were saying there is more to tuning then just filling in the numbers.. torres calc isnt made for port tuning?

please just go and download it.... lol... it will explain its self once you open it..

its a hell of alot better than REs calc...

and most *experts* who have years of experience, would rather do it on paper than on this, but alot of people i know say its almost dead on with their calculations, i dunno who this *expert* was, but he prob never even used it

  5. also what you just said..

generic rule of thumb is having between 13-17 sq inch of port per cube...

i dont understand this.. because if the box is 5 cubic feet, that means you should use lets say we go with 16 sq inch per cubic foot. that would be 80 square inches of port.. well 80 square inches isnt very big at all???

why would you put a 18 in 5 cubes before displacement?

it was just an example.. i think with our max dimensions it will be aboout 7-7.5 cubes..

then 80 sq inches isnt 80 sq inches for a 18, lol its more like 112-120, which should be fine

and hes laughing at the fact you said torres calc isnt really that good, considering its one of the best calculators around, but if you must, go to the 12volt.com and use theirs, but use theirs and torres and see which looks better lol

  7. damn those are bright, on the ones i had only the halos on the brights worked lol

u wont get pulled over for that over there?

i have no idea, but my turn signal socket came out of the housing, and got ripped off, so it was either no signal period, or these... i like these better LOL

had that happen in my accord, also had the same style bumper lights. forgot to screw them in tight after replacing the bulb and when going over a train track it popped out, cough in the tire and pulled a sht load of wires with it :pardon:

ouch, yeah im glad my wires were tucked away and only the socket got ripped off lol

  8. i would just get the recommended specs, and use torres calc to build up the box with what you have to work with man...

lets say each sub requires .75 cubic feet, then you would want 1.5 after displacement, so the box should be built to around 2 cubes before port, and should be around 1.5 after port, but the calc will tell you that

the generalization of port area is generally between 13-17 sq inch of port per cube..

you have 64 per cube LOL

i dunno if i should have said this earlyer but these are sq subs and are recomended to be ran in a 1cf sealed box for each woofer, not to be ran in a ported box, they can get loud in a ported box but need a big one

the box i had them in befor was 2cf give or take tuned to around 36-38htz

could i still run this box sealed or does the port displace to much room and only make box 1.4-1.5cf?

but ya soundstream recomends u run them in a sealed box, might have to just run em sealed, can i get a 2cf common chamber box out of 24'' wide, 12'' tall, 11'' deep?

torres calc says 1.3 cubes is what those dimensions give you

  9. i would just get the recommended specs, and use torres calc to build up the box with what you have to work with man...

  10. Have been looking at amps in the 2000w range, was thinking of 900-1200 a sub

and when you blow them, dont start a thread bitching about how they dont take power...

but, AQ1200 would be perfect for them..

remember, just because they CAN take it in certain tests, doesnt mean YOU should put that much to them... way to many variables, and considering your asking about what amp you should get, you prob are still learning alot about car audio.. the people that have ran 900+ rms to them are really knowledgeable people and know tons of information.

not trying to be a dick dude, but stay at the rms...

  11. Its funny how the law abiding citizens always get penalized for the actions of morons.

In this situation here: "Lowering the speed limit". What in the hell is lowering the speed limit going to do? The person that was responsible for causing the accident was intoxicated. Making rules for drunk people to follow isn't a very safe bet because chances are they more than likely won't follow them.

    fucking amen....

its like gun laws, lets take away everyones guns, so only the people who dont follow rules have them..

its stupid to penalize the people who are doing the right thing, because of the people doing the wrong thing..

if anything i say give people who are doing the wrong thing, harsher punishments...

i bet that mother fucker who hit that family because he was driving under the influence wouldnt have been so likely to do that if we would chop his leg off for it...

  12. Im not sure but im about 90 percent there is a writeup on how to do angel eyes. Just swap the white bulb for a red and try it out. I want to but im too sissy to bake my headlights

oh i know how to, i just know red is illegal as hell here, and i dont want to draw any more attention to the walled integra than i have to.. LOL

and its a hassle to replace these, im way to lazy for all that :)
