Those 4kw are current hoggs...strong amps but they need plenty of juice...and if your gonna strap them @ 1 ohm that means each one will be seeing .5 ohms(i may be wrong)...that would work for burbs, not sure about daily. plus these amps are a hole different animal @ 16 volts are higher, not sure what kind of set-up that you are running(12 or 16 + volts). for around $1400 you could get a pair of regular z2's. These come alive @ 16 volts to, but are alittle more efficient than the 4kw..and on a strong 12-volt system would make more power than the Memphis.

Depends on your electrical. The 500.1 will make close to 6000 watts on 16 volts. On a 12 volt system I would say the z1a. The z1a would prolly make a little more power on 12-14volts. Splitting hairs either way..both are very strong amps. DD no longer produces the z1a..I think it was replaced by the z2lv, I could be wrong though. 16 volts and up I would say the 500.1..just my 2 cents

The main reason that they break is from vibration from being mounted on the speaker box. The first gen z1 was notorious for that. The boards where breaking from vibration. The z2 and the z1a are a bit stiffer but I still would not mount one against the sub enclosure box. Not much info on the new line of dd amps(z2lv, z2hv). I would assume that Digital Designs improved upon the progress that they made with the z1a and the z2...just my 2 cents!

I have a regular z2, they make a z2lv(low voltage) and a z2hv(high voltage). They deff do more than rated power so long as they enuff juice. For 12 volt applications I would recommend the z2lv or the z1a. The z2lv makes around 8000 watts on 14.4 volts. The regular z2 and the z2hv need 17 plus volts to make that kind of power. I run my z2 @ 1.7 ohms and it makes a hair under 5000 watts on a 12volt system(mine charges @15.4 volts with mla mod)...strong..strong amps.

I know you prolly get tired of hearing this, but this build, everything is absolutely insane. Your attention to detail is staggering, and the fact that you do all of this from your garage in your "spare" time makes it all the more impressive. Keep up the good...no great work bro!

Strong amp...just keep your voltage over 11 volts(goes into protection around 11 volts or so). Does more than rated power, for the money not a bad deal @ all.

How does this compare to the memphis 16-mcd4kw?

If this was ebay MECHMAN would receive 5 stars. First I purchased his modded ma audio hk 4000d from him. The next day he gave me a sweet deal on a 250 amp H/O alt for my hummer H2. Everything arrived today(Tuesday 2nd of Sept). Amp was as described, original box with everything that came with the amp new. Alt looks awesome, gonna get that installed Thursday. I'm a noob to this forum but I wouldn't hesitate to do business with Mechman again in the future. Awesome individual. Super fast shipper and took the time to ans all of my annoying questions over the phone.
