  1. A few reasons :

    1) SPL competitors would pop them at 0.25 ohm burps

    2) Everyday customers don't check the fuses periodically to make sure they are tight -- if they get loose they can melt or even catch on fire.

    3) Small efficiency gain... if you have a 1500D and run it at 0.5 daily go feel the fuses after you play it hard for a while... they will be warm. Heat = power loss

I must be a noob because I would have never thought of that.

  2. i dont like ported sound i dont care about spl .i had a nightshade did it right did not like the sound .not saying its not a good driver which it is the guy i sold it to loves it..just like the accuacy and the sound of a high powered sealed application..i cant jump on the ported and loud is better bandwagon...

Then go with the SA series. I have the SA-12's and I love them, my next step is the Z V.2 12's, ported of course!

  3. I've never worried about matching batteries... even AGM and regular Lead Acid cells. Never had any issues... the parasitic draw may become an issue if the car is parked for LONG periods but not in a daily driver.

I'm trying my best to become a part of Team Sundown, so now to help my amp out with a little more juice, oh yeah J. Fuller you should be able to answer this question. If I do a re-cone for the SA-12's with the aluminum coils, will there be a dramatic difference when playing around the 40-42Hz range?

  4. Okay so I took the Camry to Pittsburg Kansas yesterday to a show and found out that (1) SAZ-1500D, (2) SA-12's, & 3 runs got me a 142.3 and this.

They clamped the amp at 963 watts (had to stay in the 1000 watt range) volume was 10/30. Voltage was around 12.6, no H/O alternator and the extra battery isn't even worth mentioning but I took 3rd in the Nationals category for this show. I was amazed. The last time I competed was 19-- and I had a Suburban. What's amazing is my first run I did a 140.1 with 1164 watts, second run was a 140.6 with 1086 watts. Turning the volume down and opening a door or two made my score higher. Now that I've done that I need to be louder.
