In a perfect world assuming it was all good equipment on the exact same power, box type, orientation, etc... four 10s. More cone area.
EDIT: posted late...
Ok. Well I think you pushed me over the edge and I'm gonna give it another shot. Everybody will love the plans I've come up with. Now I gotta go buy some stuff....again!
Did you Dynamat over the access holes to get inside your doors?
Does the window make any noise while rolling up or does the motor just whirr and move slowly?
I was in the best shape of my life coming back from Iraq at the beginning of 08 and I've slacked ever since. Fighting a Spartan would have been like fighting an infant...
I resolve to get back to 215. Woo hoo! EDIT: Meaning going back up, not down heh
I say since you have a Kinetik under the hood, just trade out the Powermasters for more Kinetiks. Or trade everything for Powermaster. I don't personally like mixing brands even though it's not a big deal. In some cases having all the same brand will help attain maximum voltage.
Why did you buy 2 from each brand anyways?
EDIT: But if there's no other options, it doesn't really matter what order if it's all going in a bank.
Well, are you changing it for show? Or just a new look?
Take a look at how Steve did the Hoopty interior, or maybe Kyle Golden's truck interior. They are not too extreme, but they really add a new beauty to the stock look.
If you change everything to black, it eventually gets bland and ruins any lighting you put into the car. I would pick some softer colors that match the exterior (after you paint it) and wrap the pieces instead of paint. Than decide lighting afterwards.
So far the tunnel has been the absolute best performance in my car. I tore it out because I didn't think it out and couldn't finish it. I think I'm gonna take another shot at it but do it right this time.
I actually know nothing about 6th order other than how they're set up. I just threw it on there to get an idea of opinions and I'm glad I did.
When I drew up the ideas and procedures, I didn't compensate for measurements. I don't know what's all entailed with that design or how much space it really needs. I'm glad you mentioned that.
I do, however have more than enough airspace for the 8 15s.
No, but honestly, I was hoping at a re-attempt at the tunnel now that I have more experience. And noob was right on the money when he said flared. That's what I had in mind for that one.
Trust me I've done the research and that scares me.
I'm just trying to get opinions on the next build. I'm not leaning towards the 6th order, but who knows?
Nothing! Just having tons of fun building!
Well if it ends up being tunnel, I'll do LVL 4s, BLs, MOJOs or something of that level. And if it ends up being 6th Order, Probably BTLs, LVL 5s, TSNSs, SMDs etc...
Lemme know what you guys think my next build should be. These are the choices I came up with. I've already done the measurements and drawn up the procedures for all of them, I just want some opinions.
Different size subs firing in random directions will not help dB. To a certain point you'd be moving more air and it may be louder, but as far as SPL goes it won't do much. It's even possible it would hurt it. With 6-700 you could do something way better.
Are you looking to get louder or are you looking for more SPL? There's a difference.
Bad idea. Test fit it, then take it all out and glue it piece by piece with good glue. Only put one or two screws in here and there to hold pieces together while glue dries. Tons of screws will weaken the joints and glue is way stronger anyways.
While facing back almost always sounds good, facing forward will raise your SPL.
Remember, SPL is not the same as volume and your sound could turn out like complete shit if it's not done right. Not sure of your experience, but most people who do walls are considerably seasoned or experimenting. I'd just hate to see you go through all that work and be disappointed.
Well I'm going to run 4 new negative wires back there just to help out, but I think there's another problem somewhere else...
I'm gonna do troubleshooting piece by piece tomorrow (thanks Nemesis). Some possible issues were brought up to me that I didn't think of.
EDIT: And my next build is going to need sufficient power.
