  1. that GM samll block has so many options out there to make it more power full it's really hard to tell you what I would do first. I would say make sure the thing is sound before you get too deep into the wallet. If you have any doubt take it to a good mechanic that knows that engine first to do a full on diagnostic. If not then you risk spending money on the go fast goodies then having to start on square one.

  2. I had a Harbor Freight welder for a few years and it did body panels just fine. The flux is what shields the molten metal from oxygen. With MIG (GMAW) an inert gas does this. Gasless welding creates a good bit of spatter but is pretty easy to clean up with a flap wheel.

That welder will also be good for welding exhaust. I made a "test pipe" for my Toyota with the little welder. It has a shit duty cycle, meaning it won't run much of a bead for very long but it will stitch weld (also not for very long).

In short, yes. It will be perfect for doing the door handle patches, I used mine on an S10 years ago. It's a good little learner to tell you the truth. I have since upgraded to an ESAB Migmaster!

  3. haha havent went threw yet ever since i got my butt chewed out at school for burnin corners i havent since :P

I burned through a corner on an 82 Harley saddle bag I spent a week fixing and repainting (dude dropped it in his garage) and about had a stroke!lol

I have one I got from a jobber in KY and it's awesome. Can't think of the name, it's been a while since I used it but it has great balance and the thumb RPM dial is great.

  4. just keep the RPM's below 3k! Stay away from the corners and never push on it!

It sounds to me like you're terrified of the rotary buffers.. lol they aren't that dangerous if you keep your rpms at like 1800 and keep that thing moving quickly. I polished my car in like 30min with one of these and didn't break through. :D

terrified? No. I have seen people fuck up a paint job in a hurry because they didn't know how to use a buffer. They think it's the same as a random orbit polisher and it is NOT!

So you buff it every time you wash it? You do know that the compounds are abrasive right?!
