  1. Hey now, if you haven't already heard me say so, music genres, mean jack-$#!+-nothing to me. If I like a song, I like it. I don't give a rats a$$ if it's freaking polka music ;) LOL

    That said (oh, and yes, I'm the same Fish Chris that had SMD playing dubstep a few weeks ago :)) I guess this track is considered "Country"...... So, if you already know you don't like it, without even listening to it, just based on the genre, it's your loss then.

    But trust me.... Download the track; 'If I Die Young', by 'The Band Perry'. The kick bass is deep and tight. The mids are smooth, and clean. And Kimberly Perry just has an absolutely beautiful voice.

    Just a fantastic demo track, to show people your system can play actual music well, too...... I mean, assuming "it can play actual music well, too".

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    As a fun little side note; I was cranking this up earlier, and it was such a trip to see the reactions of people..... especially people "you know" would ordinarily HATE on loud stereo systems. I had several of them look at me with this confused look, like they didn't know whether to hate it, because it was loud, or start singing along with it :) LOL Next they were probably thinking, "Look ! It's an old white guy" ! WTF ? :) LOL
    Peace,
    Fish
  2. Hey Notoriousj76, before we go any farther, are you sure your enclosure is 15 cubes ??? ...even after sub and port displacement ? This is REALLY huge, for an enclosure, "other than" a walled vehicle. So I guess you have this in a large SUV or a van ?
    ~~~~~~~~

    Anyway, I typically decide on what subs, and how many, "then" build the box to optimum specs for those subs. But if you really do have 15 cubes (net) to play with, yes, actually it probably would work well for four 15"s. You'd still need to model them, to figure out your exact porting. But probably doable.

    Peace,

    Fish

    Ok thanks. Before I had this setup I had an orion hcca 15 in 8 ft3 total. Sounded almost as good but I traded it for these subs, and they are only single coils. I got lied too and didn't notice how "not loud" they were untill later when I put a multimeter on them and got no reading out of the other coil's terminal on each.

    If I put 4 15's in there do you think it would be sutible? Or should I just build another box and up my wattage? I'm trying to save money and be as loud as possible. Also, I prefer low tuning. 33 hz probly on my next enclosure.

  3. Hey Notoriousj, it sounds like you are kind of bouncing around aimlessly.

    The very best advice I can give you, is to just talk to the manufacturer of your subs first. Find out what the "optimum" cubes for your subs are (given the type of music you listen to most... although this info won't change the optimum cubes by very much anyway)

    Then find out what the best porting sq inches would be, followed by port length, for your tuning frequency.

    Then build your enclosure accordingly.

    If your decent with math, and can build it exactly to factory specs, it will hit as good as it possibly can !

    Easy as can be :)

    Peace,

    Fish

  4. Well, that's what Ray said.... And yes, it seems as if it was......

    Then again, {and maybe this is a just a different way of explaining "cancellation"} I did notice before that a lot more air was blowing from my 1 non-extended port, than from either of the two ports with extensions added > The air was taking the shortest / easiest path ?

    Now, of course, it has "no easier path", so any air coming from any of the ports, has to travel just as far.

    Of course, as I said before, "it sounded pretty darn good before". This might have only added 1 or 2 db's, but for 2 hours work, it was totally worth it.

    Fish

    do you think you were getting cancelation with the different port lengths?

  5. but I'm not a complete idiot (contrary to what my X's might tell you :)) LOL

    So, when both Steve and Ray questioned the effectiveness of different length ports in the same box, I had to at least try making them all equal, to see if I could hear a difference.....

    This morning I chopped two of my port extensions off from 18" to 12", and I finished a 3rd one, at 12" also. So I still have 36" of port extension, total, but instead of 2 at 18", and 1 with no extension, I now have all three at 12" {internally, my ports are 18", so my total port lengths are 30"}

    And anyway, guess what > I honestly think its hitting the deep notes (the tuned port notes) harder, and cleaner. All the crap in my center console, and anything on my dash seems to be jumping around more too.

    So, all 3 extensions tune my box to about 31hz. I could always yank off all 3 ports {yes, I said yank off ;)}, and bump it up to 34hz, if I were playing old school stuff, without much really deep bass > But I really like "really deep bass" :)

    So I'm thinking maybe their's a reason that Steve and Ray own / moderate this website ? :)

    Thanks guys,

    Fish

  6. I don't need a "BIG" one !

    Why TF does the capacity get bigger and bigger, along with the motor strength ? I mean, 2 to 3 gallons would probably be plenty for me. Easy to store, easy to drag around, etc, and it's not like I'll ever vacuum more than 2 or 3 gallons of dust / dirt out of my truck, or car > But I want that bastid to have a 15hp super-charged motor on it ! I want one that will suck the chrome off a trailer hitch (a girlfriend like that would be cool too, but that's for another thread ;))

    What is the strongest, but smallest shop vac available ?

    Thank you,

    Fish

    PS, The last time I went to the car wash and paid like $2.00 for the vacuum there. It sucked, but it also didn't suck worth a $#!+ ! :( Filters probably hadn't been cleaned for however long.

  7. Tonedef

    it is entirely possible to naturally bodybuild and have a body you could dream of.

    Well, that depends. A body that I dream of having, would be like Zack King Kahn (photo above) or Jay Cutler.... or BIGGER ! And THAT is totally not possible without roids..... just another reason I'll never be as big as I'd like to be. But I won't let that stop me from doing all that this old guy, with lame genetics, body will will allow....

    ANY amount of size and strength I can gain is a good thing, which is worth working hard for.

    Peace,

    Fish

  8. One thing you guys seem to be overlooking > genetics !

    Some guys just get big and ripped, easier than others. Granted, hard, consistent workouts, great diet, and plenty of rest goes a long ways..... But beyond that, some guys are born with it, and some are not.

    Does anybody here believe they could be as big as my body building idol Zack King Kahn, by eating right, getting plenty of rest, and working out as hard / smart as humanly possible.... even in 15 years ? EVEN taking tons of steroids ?

    0c1a0a90.jpg

    I honestly don't think so. Personally, I believe that maybe 1 guy in 10's of millions, even has the genetic potential to get this huge, regardless of all else....

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    But hey, on the body building note, I've been working out as hard as this semi-worn out, old white guy possibly could, for 1 year now, and eating like a freak, for almost 2 years. I often look in the mirror and wonder, "WTF I'm not getting big, and ripped" ? But I think a lot of that is because I see myself so often. Then, sometimes I look back at my obese, super high BP, super high cholesterol arse, 2 years ago, and "THIS" is what I'm proud of. Not about where I'm at, but where I've come from.
    As I have said several X's lately > It took me 2 years just to climb out of a very deep hole. Only now can I start thinking about getting big / ripped. But just give me 3 more years ;)
    PS, One of the replies on Youtube said, "It looks like Fish has been eating some roids"..... Ha ! :) I was so flattered ! :) I don't know what that guys sees, that I don't.... But I sure look forward to the time when I get big enough that everybody is questioning that !
    My obese arse 2 years ago:
    Me now "trying" to look buff, after a workout :) LOL
    11f936f0.jpg
    And I have to say this again....
    Losing 100 lbs of fat, easy as could possibly be. Calories in, vs calories out. It's really that simply.
    Gaining 30 or 50 lbs of lean muscle mass.... toughest thing I've ever tried to accomplish. Blood, sweat, and tears. {I've actually gained about 28 lbs of muscle in this last year. Hoping for 25 lbs more, in the next 3 years}
    Peace,
    Fish
  9. Right on. Vallejo is a hop and a skip :)
    Well hey, I'm kind of torn right now.... On the one hand, my system has never sounded better, and I'm loving to show it off to anyone who appreciates it, but on the other hand, I've got two more BIG things to do with it, that should make a huge difference (doubling my mids/highs, and totally sound deadening the entire cab).
    But anyway, I can talk fishing all freaking day :) Stay in touch... or maybe I'll PM you when I get these project phases done.
    Going to get my unlimited ocean's license to be a captain.
    That will be bad a$$ ! :) Good luck.
    Peace,
    Fish
  10. Man, I'd love to..... But I assume it's on a weekend ? I always work weekends (99% by choice) but it makes it hard to go to shows and such.
    If it's important enough for me to miss a days work, it's like whatever I do that day will cost me whatever that day might cost + $150-$200 lost income :(
    Peace,
    Fish
    you should come down to San Jose for MECA State Finals Fish
  11. Yea', she's pretty much off the hotness scale, huh ? :)
    Her name is Raven Riley. She is REALLY popular on the Internet, if you want to do a search on her.
    All my buddies like her too.
    Peace,
    Fish
    I live in the Fairfield/Suisun/Vacaville area. (about halfway between San Fran, and Sac)
    I'd love to compare systems with some of you guys + meet a few of the members here in person.
    You can reply here, or shoot me a PM.
    Peace,
    Fish
    if I get to play with the girl in your avatar I'll move there
  12. I like the idea of 3 subs in a wall.... whether it be 3 15"s, or 3 18"s :) For one thing its just a little bit less common than 2 or 4, and I like anything different. But for another, you can often end up with either a 1.33ohm, or a 1.66ohm load, which I think is great for an amp that is stable to 1ohm (depending on whether your subs are 2 or 4 ohm, single, or DVC)
    Kind of a happy medium between the standard 2 or 1 ohm loads.
    I certainly wouldn't pick out any subs until I knew exactly how many cubes I had to play with, and after that, I wouldn't choose any subs I couldn't treat in the optimum way (the right cubes).
    Peace,
    Fish
    This is hopefully going in a 2000 mercury cougar. Not a whole lot of room, but im willing to take up half my trunk for the wall if need be. Going to run (3) Fi BTL N2 15s on (3) SAZ-2500s hopefully. Gonna save up about 4 grand. I already have one woofer and one amp, etc.. which helps. Dont know how much volume I have in my cougar, but I really hope I have enough. I know i have enough for 2 15s walled, but that seemed not enough for me. So 3 popped in my head.. and this is what im going with. No clue on box specs or anything yet. Probably tuning around 29-32 Hz though.
    Here is a design. Let me know what you guys think.
  13. Blowthrough. Be a man. :)
    X's 10 !
    WAY back in the beginning of my box building days, I spent a lot of time, and a good chunk of $$$, building at least 3 boxes for the cab of an S10, regular cab.... seats slid up 2 or 3 notches and everything > and they all sucked ! Finally I did a blow through... once for 2 10"s, next for two 12"s, and finally 4 12"s, and all of those sounded great !
    If I didn't have a Supercab, 1/2 ton, with no rear seats, I wouldn't have to think twice aout doing another blow through...... but I managed to get 7.5 cubes net (almost 10 cubes gross) for my pair of 15"s in cab ;)
    Peace,
    Fish
  14. Im just curious how far you would go with that F. Fusion, to make it loud and clean ? Do you have to keep the back seats ? (I dunno' about you, but I've never had a seating issue > My seat is always the one on the front left ;)) A nice fat box, or a short wall would make it a lot easier to make it loud, by using more, and / or bigger subs. Through in some mid-bass', cross it all over well, and Bam :)
    > Their is no re-placement, for dis-placement.
    Then some good mids and highs in "at least" the four (front and rear) stock locations, and your good to go :)
    BTW, I love everything about those Fusions.... except 1 thing.... They don't sell a 3dr hatch :( Back seats I can / would rip out, but the back doors which make it look less sporty, would NEVER be opened.
    Anyway, it would be fun to wall one of those little things ;) LOL
    Peace,
    Fish
    PS, What color did you get ? Those green ones are sick.... then black it out ;) Then a few Kwts, and whooo Hooo :)
    I already have an RE XTX5000.1 which runs 2500w RMS @1ohm and I've came down to my final decision on a setup. I want to achieve great sound quality while still getting a respectable SPL level. I have came down to either 2 10" DC XL's or 1 12" RE XXX. I have heard the amazing sound quality from a XXX on 2000w pushing about 132db but personally I've never heard any systems with 2 XL 10's. Anyone have an opinion on which one to go with? I'm going to be throwing this in a Ford Fusion.
  15. I was getting ready for a trip to Clear Lake. Had the TV on mostly for background noise..... when suddenly normal programming was interupted. I ended up watching the coverage for about 2 hours, live.
    Then, I figured I would just go on an head to the lake, and listen to it for 2 more hours on the way there, on my radio.
    But by the time I got to the lake, reality was starting to kick in, and I was so sidetracked, I barely fished.....
    I'm 47 years old, and I can honestly say, never before, or since, have I been so heavily affected, by a situation that did not involve anyone in my immediate family.
    God bless every one of the people involved in that horrific event.
    Fish
    i know a lot of you were so young you dont remember much from that time, but i remember very clearly where i was. I was in my Tahoe, on the way to work, sipping on a cup of coffee watching the news on the TV in my dash. I always did that, every morning...but that days news was far from normal. I remember getting to work and all my co-workers in the office were standing around the TV stunned.
    i personally couldn't "forget" even if i tried.
