  1. Okay, so I'm replying to the last two posts, which were started during "this decade" lol But do they realize this thread was started 10 years ago ? Anyway, people used to always ask me shit like.... "Hey, I got this Shimano real for $10. Are Shimano reels any good" ? Answer > Shimano makes everything from cheap little pieces of crap, that are not worth their weight in dirt, all the way up to totally bad ass, silky smooth, ultra precise pieces of high tech machinery".... and everything in between. So, does Shimano make good reels ? Hell yes ! But the one you got is a total POS lol Subwoofers are kind of the same thing. Most of the big names make some rinky dink entry level stuff too.
  2. I'm sure this build is going to totally amazing, because its SMD ! Wouldn't expect anything less But I'm thrown off by a few things, and trying figure it out. 1) Your only going to be giving your 15"s, 1500 wts RMS each ? Aren't you giving the subs in your Tahoe like 5-6 Kwts ? 2) I know those amps are TOP quality, and probably make super clean, efficient power, but it seems odd to me that that they make the 2 x 1500 RMS amplifier (which your using on your subs) and a 4 x 1500 wts RMS that your using for mids / highs, and they have the same footprint ? 3) So your going to be making 6 Kwts (for all four ch) total for your four 15"s.... and 12 Kwts (for all eight ch) total for your mids/highs ? Am I missing something here ?
  3. Hey Bass Monkey, I saw where you replied, "Good question"....  Well I think so, and its just killing me that I can't seem to get a straight answer ? I know the whole car audio crowd is stuck on the "more batteries, more batteries, more, more, more" train.... But I'm really feeling like this is all false. Just make enough juice to begin with, and you will have no need for additional storage. Still waiting for somebody to prove me wrong.

  4. That's cool. And I never have a problem with old threads brought back from the dead. Often, old threads are still completely relevant now. Still, some guys actually seem to get mad about this ? Odd, but whatever
  5. I totally believe Xs makes better batteries. I also believe they are way overpriced, and more importantly, I believe "batteries" in general, are WAY over hyped in car audio. If you need more power, MAKE more power, with as large, or as many high powered alternators as you need. Unless you plan to sit and play your system with your vehicle turned off. I never do that. I just saw a video where a car used "NO" batteries. Only a super capacitor bank, with like 5 amp hours. Granted, this was just for the car itself, and no high powered stereo system. But I truly believe that with enough power generation, and a nice strong super capacitor bank, batteries are pretty much meaningless. Granted, super capacitors are nearly impossible to get right now ! Urgggg !!!
  6. Doers everyone realize, this thread was started 11 years ago ? lol Seriously though, did anyone ever ask the OP about his alternator ?
  7. Tell you what, I go to South Lake Tahoe all the time. Maybe I could meet you in person some time, and we can see then if you still feel the same Peace. BTW, I don't mean that to sound confrontational. Maybe we could trade stereo demo's... although I'd likely be in my car, and that system definitely leans towards SQ. The truck system ins my SQL setup, but I'm usually in S. Tahoe with my car.
  8. Why ? Because first they say this; "Small adjustments may be required for this battery to fit into your vehicle." Then they say this: "Disclaimer: XS Power is not responsible for incorrect vehicle fitment." Okay, so make one that fits perfectly, no adaptions needed. Especially considering this is "the most common vehicle" (and that includes cars and trucks) on the road today ! I get that it might not be feasible to make a specific battery for every different vehicle on the road. However, at least start with the most popular vehicles, and then have adaptions for the less common vehicles. This would be the most logical thing to do. {sorry, I'm not trying to make this bold... it wont let undo that ?)
  9. I drive one of the most popular, common vehicles on the freaking road... a freaking Ford F150 ! You have heard of those, right ? And then I just saw this > https://4xspower.com/bci_group/59/ Seriously ? Id figure that when XS Power first started as a company, making a battery for my truck would be one of the first 4 or 5 batteries they produced. And the real sticker, is when they say, "The option below is powerful enough".... Powerful enough for who ? For what ? That reminds me of when a speaker company says, this sub "can work in as little as X cubic feet"..... I don't give a shit "what it can work in", What does it work best in ! Powerful enough ? No ! Tell me, "This battery was designed to be the most powerful battery that will fit perfectly in your truck" ! Honestly, I was on the fence between an XS and a much cheaper Duracel AGM, but I think now I've decided. They make one to fit my truck perfectly.
  10. That's awesome, as I'm pretty sure then, I could drive 5 minutes to his shop, and buy my next amp in person, no shipping required ....well unless its drop-shipped. But I will check ahead.
  11. Thanks guys. Yea' I know there are lots of buying options for Skar equipment. I'm just curious what the deal is with SE discontinuing Skar stuff ? Seems kind of a shame. Two great companies having a problem between themselves ?
  12. WTF is this about ? I've always had good experiences with SE, and loving my new Skar subwoofer. Was thinking about getting a 4 ch Skar amp soon. Come to find out ALL Skar products have been discontinued at SE ? Really ? I guess there is always Amazon, but sometimes I try to spread my money around just a little. Just wondering if this has to do with some sort of feud between companies ?
  13. Right on SonicE is great ! bought a lot of stuff from you guys, including my baby ....my RF Power 1 5ch, which I still beat the heck out of daily, almost 3 years later Oh... got all my Polk Audio mids and highs from you guys too ! Thank you SonicElectronix ! Peace, Fish
  14. Thank you Decaf. I understand well enough to see that we are still pretty much screwed with a poorly recorded original track I guess it's kind of the same thing with photography .... Oh sure, you can do a LOT of tweaks in Photoshop, but the better the original shot, the better the finished product.... and the worse, the worse...... Any artist who makes bomb ass music, then fininshes it with a shitty recording, should be drug outside and beat ! Fish
  15. I have heard many X's that once an original song is clipped, your pretty much screwed.... or to put it another way, their is not a good way to fix it. But then I read that it's very easy to completely remove a bass line (or trebles or mids, for that matter) and to replace those lines with your own version... louder, quieter, deeper, or whatever. So, if a bass line is clipped, and you basically completely remove it, isn't the clipping now eliminated too ? Not that I would even have the skilz to attempt this myself... but it would at least be nice to know such a thing was possible ! Anyone ? Fish
  16. Damn, you guys are ruthless ! I mean, is the OP like a personal enemy of yours ? Anyway, yea', this track is pretty ghetto, and quite lame........ But then IMPO, so is "most" black rap. Nothing different here. Peace, Fish
  17. Thanks guys. Glad a few of you liked it. Yea', that sucks that it's clipped. Hey Decaf, question ? I think once a song is clipped, it can't really be fixed correctly.... right ? But what if those kick drums were removed completely (or mostly, anyway) and replaced with something deeper, and of course, with the new added deeper bass > not clipped ? Possible ? Or no ? When I was talking about this song being bass boosted, I was actually thinking more along the lines of "deeper bass" anyway, rather than "more bass". Possible, or no ? Thanks, Fish
  18. Hey all. Been a little while since I've been here. My OCD has been leaning toward the whole body building thing. Heck, I haven't even been fishing in 10 weeks ! WTF ? Anyway, I just love this song. I'd love to have it bass boosted..... but everybody elses boosted versions of pretty much everything, are way "over-bassed / unbalanced" for my system..... and my own bass boosting knowledge sucks a$$..... So that's where I'm at. BTW, I wouldn't really call this dub step. I'd say its more like glitch-hop-electronic-techno But then again, unless you are genre prejudice, who really gives a fawk, right ? Peace, Fish
  19. Of course anything that makes fun of alcohol (the lame a$$ drug that it is) is probably going to be funny, to me.... Peace, Fish
  20. I'd love to know what you were talking about, but your link just takes me to a catalog page, with a whole bunch of items... nothing specific ? Fish
  21. Hey lilnate, I love my Dayton 15" HO's for SQ. I mean, they do get fairly loud, but beause of the shorter throw design, they are made more for SQ than SPL. I'm sure these subs could be tuned higher, and made to be much louder...... But they sound so clean, and musical, when tuned to 29hz to 32hz. Oh, and right on your price range too. About $375 for two of them. http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=295-469 Peace, Fish
  22. Exactly ! Sit in SM's Taho, and the doors, dash, and everything, flex like crazy, but not a rattle one.... to my ears, anyway < Thas a system ! Fish
  23. Ya' know, if I ever were to build a system, using trunk space for my subs, I just couldn't see it "without" just fiberglassing in the whole inside of the trunk, and totally foaming in between the enclosure, and trunk lid, with both ports and subs entering the cabin. All that metal slappin' just sounds like a$$. Fish
  24. So last might I pull into the auto parts store (slamming ). It wasn't until I killed my truck / stereo, that I realized I had set off the alarm on an older (69 ?) Mustang. As I walked in the store, the owner of the Stang walks out. Just as I start to talk with the young guy at the counter, the Stang fires up, and "$#%^^$^&^%^*&^%^%" !!! Damnit Jim ! That was the LOUDEST, ugliest bunch of rattles I've EVER heard from a car stereo ! This one actually had just a little bit of audible bass too, albeit zero mids/highs. (I'm sure you guys have heard the setups where "all you heard" was rattles). Anyway, I wasn't going to say anything, but then the guy at the counter says, "Damn, that sounds like $#!+" ! LOL So I laugh, and say to him, "I hope mine didn't sound like that" The guy told me, "No. All I heard was some deep, clean bass, then that guys alarm going off" Maybe it's just me, but even little, interior panel rattles (plastic on metal), bug the living $#!+ out of me, let alone, entire body panels, and trunk lids slapping metal on metal ! I always wonder, "Do these guys think this sounds cool" ? Then I was wondering, if I gave him a demo, would he think mine played "waay too much actual music {mids/highs} ? +, it's not even enough strong enough to cause any noticeable rattles" ? He'd probably tell you my system sucks LOL Funny, but soooo common, right ? Fish
