  1. D series has what is known as "Starting Plates"

Meaning they can give high current in short time.

The XP series has a large amount of lead but not starting plates, so it should not be used under the hood but can give long reserve.

The D series still has a great reserve capacity and is still great for daily systems and supplemental batteries.

The XP though is slightly less money and can get you a small percentage more reserve.

  2. yeah, hmm so the motor is the magnet?

If you are asking that, building a woofer would be quite difficult for you.

Woofers, well good woofers, are carefully designed to have parts that compliment eachother and fit together with the proper clearances and tolerances.

You can buy parts from fixmyspeaker.com but I would suggest first getting a cheaper woofer, cut it apart and buy a drop in recone and recone it according to a step by step instructions.

  3. Ive done Hybrids, they have a standard 12v starting batt as stated above.

But a full electric is different.

The main batt is high voltage and you do not want to tap into it.

They do have a 12v feed for standard car electronics and accessories and you can use this for low power items.

I wanted to use a Chevy Volt as a demo car and be the first to do 150+ in an electric car, but I cannot afford one.

But I will tell you that it can be done, and how I was going to to it was to put in a 2nd battery bank of XS Power batteries and just charge em up as often as I got the chance.

If there was some rotational mechanism in the car like an AC that I could attach to, Id do an alternator, but Ive never seen inside one.

  4. I think it pops on compression. The only way to really test this is to put a small balloon in a sealed box for a 15" woofer, tape it to a side and a camera and a small flash light do a sweep test. The sealedness of the box will eliminate the potential for "air traffic" coming into or exiting the box. or use a box that is sealed with a plexiglass.

That test wont help you determine whether the pop happens on the compression or vacuum. You would need a high speed camera.

  5. Yes balloons pop in an extreme car, But they pop due to vacuum. It makes the pressure inside the balloon blow the balloon outwards.

And as far as outlawing vacuum chambers, they actually outlawed the use of compressed air or gas.

I believe the Gates bronco had nitrogen at one point and would vacuum seal the doors and pump the cabin with gas.
