  1. ok so how will i know what the port will be tuned @ if i double my port area but still keep the same dimetisons and where should my port be located at

the old engineer said 2.4 cu with a 25sq in x 16.75 i know know if that helps

are you going for good sounding or just high SPL?

there are plenty of box design programs that you can use if you have the specs of the sub.

Personally, I just build a box to what I feel would be good, then fine tune the port afterwards. But I have been building boxes since 1992.

I would put the subs on the passenger side and the port on the driver side, make the port as high as the box (12" if the box is 12" high) Then do the width about 10" and length of 16". Then I would shrink the port area or length as I see fit.

Or I would use a 10 or 12" round flared port and adjust the length to fine tune.

This is how I build sometimes and it always works for me.

  2. it's a 2005 toyota corolla and the port it has 2 ports and both are 12.5x2x13.5

SPL wise, the best for a trunk car is to fire the sub and port forward and totally seal off the trunk from the cabin.

2 cubes may be good for that sub but I am not sure. SPL wise it would be best to have one port at least 75-100 sq inches of port area. You currently have 2) 25 sq in ports for a total of 50 sq inches, thats too small for SPL, but can be good for regular listening.

  3. hope i writing this in the right place but i need help with the enclosure i built the original box from the spects the dude gave me @ spl (the subs are splw 12in ) his box size was 2 cu. with a port 25sq. in x 13.5 it was an ok box for a little till it broke it was doing 135.1 @49hz can anyone help me with the new box need spects and would like it to be ported at 40hz just need to be able to bass race in the 139.9 class

I dont have experience with those subs but can tell you that more port area will help.

    what kind of car?

  4. Sounds cool man. Hopefully things go well with the lineup.

Do you think that youwill be switching out that Maxximus for twelve.1?

I tested my Maxximus at 12K of output. It'll take alot to have me switch cause I love that amp.

I can say that I will be testing the twelve.1s though.

  5. shit, wish there was a middle of the road amp like a 5k rms amp. Nonetheless, should be a bangin line up coming from T3.

eventually there will be, just have to debut the line first and see how it goes.

  6. there are also partial sponsorships.

I talked to JD today and it is official. The amps should be available in February.

They are all going to be rated by Horsepower and there may be a small block series and a big block series.

  7. I have only been studying car audio for 16 years out of my 28. I still have yet to see a benefit from a CAP in any setup, no matter how you use it, but I guess I need more experience as well. Although I have yet to see a car with severe ripple in the DC voltage line that warranted a CAP in the first place. Could happen (in theory)

  8. Chuckles :-) Who am I to argue ?

I just find this subject kind of amusing. I remember I went to one car audio website where they had pinned a whole post, written by one of that's sites respected car audio gurus, explaining why, in scientific detail, caps were useless, and a complete waste of time and money.

So, shortly thereafter, I go to another website, where one of the gurus there (in fact, he happened to be one of the moderators) was like 100% pro capacitors, and he had posted and pinned, a big explanation about why capacitors were the shiznit, and why you would be stupid not to include one !

Not wanting to challenge him on his own forum, I sent him a PM with a link to guru from the other forum's post, about why caps were a complete waste of time.... "His reply" ? Please don't post that on our forum ! We would really like that guys post to stay dead and buried......

Which all leads dum-basses like myself to wonder, who TF is really correct ?

Tell you guys what, after I get my system all installed, and dialed in, anyone of you guys can buy me a big, fat cap. I'll put it in, and tell you all the results, and we can answer this question once and for all ;-)

    Peace,

    Fish

I have tested many times with varying sized systems and various sized CAPS. each time I found the same result, no benefit, no harm, nuetral. They simply did not do anything.

Nothing can beat a properly setup electrical system with a properly size alternator and batteries.

If your system is having issues, try not to add a bandaid, fix the source of the issue. thats what I say.

  9. you heard wrong.

Even if a sub moves a little it will still move air enough to cool, and besides, there isnt enough power to heat up the coil that much anyway.

too little power cannot blow a sub, its impossible. What too little power can do is cause you to turn it up too much and play into distortion.

Distortion is not good but also cannot alone blow a sub. Its the extra heat caused by the distortion.

The setup you listed will be fine though

  10. correct it does rated power

    Does more than rated actually.

I tested one at over 4000 watts output on 14v DC dropping to 13.5v.

Strong amp. Its a dual mono design so its benefit depends on your setup. This amp does well in street classes

  11. So I was on aim and my "a" button crapped out, I have to copy/paste every single friggin "a".

    this isnt gonna fly.

    its a toshiba qosmio f45 av411

Toshiba says I'm out of warranty and wants 425+shipping for repair, no friggin way is that happening

already took it apart and got the number off of the keyboard, found a replenishment here for 90$

    http://www.laptopking.com/kingpartdetails....egory=keyboards

Is this place legit? Can u find that part cheaper? i dont have $90 to spare right now, any idea on how to fix it? (usb keyboard are all at home, going there Tuesday for Thanksgiving break.)

    Thanks for any help

buy a new USB keyboard. can get one on the cheap if there is a Circuit City nearby.

  12. it is going into a 2000 Pontiac grand am sedan, and i am using JL's exact specs for a ported box.

If loud is your main goal there are better choices in sub brands.

However, out of those 2 choices, the 2 12s would get louder any day, the W3 just cant be pushed hard enough to compensate for the lower cone area.

  13. I agree man, I guess their searching for it now, but they have like a 1000 square km area to look for the thing.

Imagine being in a police/news helicopter and that shit happening :o

It was really a UFO but I kicked those aliens azzes.

I told them I Pity da fool dat tries to take over the world, then they went home crying to their mamas.

Nah, seriously, that would have been awsome to see in real life. Wish I was there.

  14. I am going to be making door pods in the garage this weekend and I use some lamps for heat. I am better at measuring the hardener (thanks to a post on this site) so it should be no more "smokers" for me!lol

can always mix it in your bedroom too and have that sweet smell linger for about 2 weeks.

thats what I used to do. lol

hmm, maybe I should get some heat lamps for the shop now. hmmm
