  1. Also, i fool around a bit with some music production on my laptop, so yeah, 20-20k is kinda a must here, i realize im probably gunna spend a pretty penny, but its worth it to me. I may buy studio monitors and an external sub to handle the lows (most studio monitors in my price range go down to 60Hz....)
  2. tv/games/movies/music (mostly) Its a all in one system. I currently have a 5.1 set up as a 3.1
  3. Well, Currently ive got the pioneer system that they launched to match the original xbox. One my my speakers is starting to crackle, time for a replacement. Currently, and for the next few years, ill be apartment/house hopping as im a college student, so im going to stick with a 2.1, ive installed a 6.1 at home for my dad and, well, im not fishing wires through walls for a house I dont own. I already have warned my neighbors to come to me if its too loud ever. The 5.1 ive got set up right now is more like a 3.1, so that is another possibility. I dont mind the way the mids/highs sound usually, but my current system lacks in the bass department. It was a HTIB. Worked great for 5 years, now a bit worn out. Id like to keep somewhere around 50-100w RMS to each chanel. (currently in my car im running 100w to each door and 900 to the subs, not enough....) In the past ive helped my dad set up, no, more of i set up the stereo and he just told me what to do, lots of running wires through crawlspaces, then up walls, and back to the box with all the banana clips behind the entertainment center. Way more detailed than im trying to get, and also, he picked out the components. Denon receiver, boston acoustic speakers, all that shit. I really have no clue what im doing here. I cant find any 3.1 home amps (admittedly i just started looking) and im not sure what exactly it is that i need. I would like a nice powered sub, and have plans to make some nice speakers using raw drivers. Could i just build all the speakers/crossovers/boxes myself (the way i want to do it but lack a table saw or place for one) have an amp built into the back of each one and have just some sort of....idk, like a 9887 with the internal amp turned off just pushing out signal levels? Or, for moneys sake, is there some way i can get a nice/decent 2(3).1 system that has decent bass? If i had the resources i could easily go buy a nice reciever and a 5.1 set and just stack the front and satelite (like my HTIB is set up now) and leave the center in front of the TV. IF this didnt make sense, im sorry, medication makes me a bit....rambly and all off focus...so yeah, if anything is unclear and you need it cleared up, holler at me and ill be glad to clear it up. Thanks in advance guys.
  4. yeah, but im a poor college student, lol. Sonic is on backorder, guess ill check the local shops, tearing out my dash may have to wait till sundown cuz its already like 107
  5. Years ago my last ipod was stolen and last year i put in a 9887. Last month I found an 80G iPod in my couch, called all my friends, nobody claimed it, so im assuming its from the people who lived here before. Was wondering if anyone had one of these cables lying around, i have needed a good reason to take my dash apart on my lancer, its been over a full 12 months since ive messed with audio, i dont feel right... please email me rj dot mata63 at gmail
  6. A bit over a year ago i purchased a new Mitsubishi Lance durning Cash for Clunkers. Problem was, it was the last day, and my choice had to be on the lot. I ended up with my 2010 Lancer DE. It does the job just fine, but the problem is when i have a 760 mile each way to school, the car didnt come equipped with a cruise control. Is there an aftermarket one i can put on. Or is there a kit, not necessarily produced for a lancer, that will work? Im fairly confidant I can do the work myself. I am not a noob, just been kinda dorman and busy with school. Thanks for the help guys
  7. Im back on break from school and my mom's teacher friend wanted to have a remote start installed in her 4runner. It has a factory alarm. What do i need to do to bypass this. I dont recall finding a module, anyone on here do this? Thanks for the help guys, ill probably start getting more active on here agina, its been a while.
  8. Well, its been 8 months since ive had subs, so most of the CDs in the blazer were burned, and they were all straight up bass for the most part. Since then my comp has crashed, and ive lost everything i had back then. Some songs ive been trying to find are the bass added Comfortably Numb, come sail away, the versions of in the air tonight that have been bumped by alot of users on this forum....ill do some more lookin and see if i cant find the old thread i found them in a long time ago. Probably a good year now. Anywho...if anyone has any good songs that bump, let me know. Also, check out the CD Rhythm my Luke Vibert, it fucking slams. The 2nd track, Registrarse loud and low. Its trip-hop. So all of you who like that kinda peaceful happy music with lots of bass, or those of you who like to go on trips, you may find this appealing. Pretty mellow/calming music. EDIT: Also, check out skream, some of the songs take a min. for the bass to develop, took me a lil bit to figure that out. Dubstep and triphop FTMFW
  9. now thats just crazy. Seeing as in my 5 years of driving (well, 6, but 5 with a license) Ive needed a spare twice, once when i spun out my moms subrurban on a nasty corner in the rain back in HS (broke the bead and the tire went completely flat, but not till after a 270 into curb hop. And once in my lancer recently when i blew a tire. Dont know how, it was dark and late, guessing pothole. So i think ill just carry a 17mm and 14mm sockets, and a socket wrench, and a Phillips tip screwdriver, which is everything ill need to get the back seat out, and unfasten the brackets i fabbed that hold the box in place. Funny thing, my dad, who i expected to flip shit over this (mind you he still doesnt and WONT know about the sheet metal i removed for a long while even though its my car, he would flip shit and call me a dumbass till he was blue in the face) was pretty chill, didnt really give a shit, where as my mom, the usually more relaxed of the two, flipped shit over something so small and insignificant. Greatest question, You didnt think about this before you did all this? Answer: Yea, i planned on this all along... Her: Thats the most asinine thing ive ever heard, who the hell would do that? (not a completely lame mom though, shes a pretty good shot) Obviously shes never been on SMD
  10. may invest in some runflats then. Main concern is my 700 mile drive to and from school. and currently my 30 mile drive each way to work 5 days a week. I said for the drive to school, the drive there atleast, my sis and i will both be taking our cars (to the same college) so i would just throw my spare in her car, since she wont have as much shit as i will. Since my lil sis is a year ahead of me in college and is already there, she'll have most of her stuff in storage. Needless to say, my mom didnt care for that answer either. EDIT: KILLA> Thats what i told her. She thinks its retarded. I replied with, well, i couldda kept the spare, but i wouldda needed to buy new subs, and thats money you didnt want me spending in the first place since i have my old ones...so ya, she was pissed, i dont see why, im calling it overreacting.
  11. So, you trunk guys, how do you access your spare tire? Id have to remove the rear seat, unsecure the box, slide it forward, then get to it. I think this is a reasonable sacrifice considering ive given up my whole trunk almost. My mom, thinks its retarded. I said the other options are leave it in the garage and have someone drive it to me (my least favorite option), or pay for AAA i guess. Again, she thought those options were retarded. I know alot of you who have trunks and big boxes in your DDs have to have some way of dealing with this. So what do you do?
  12. Is it that much harder to get loud in a car? Im about to find out when i finish my build, but 143 off 4 15s? I guess it is sealed...i was at 141 with a pair of 12s ported off >1k. But it was in a blazer....
  13. yes you did. And it works. This build is a pain in the ass. New cars are a bitch to work on, now i really really miss my s10 blazer.
  14. Also, for all those who think the car is too dirty for a 2010, yes its dirty, i work in construction, i eat in my car atleast twice a day, others eat in my car at lunch, i smoke alot of cigs, but im switchin to the patch, time to kick the habit, and its got 16k miles. Yes, a 2010 with 16k miles on it already. I drive 30 miles or so each way to work.
  15. For the HU i cut a bit of the insulation off the wire for the cig lighter, soldered in a wire to run to the HU, and soldered that into the wiring harness for the HU. No crimps minus one for the power wire. The ground i soldered, but i crimped the power. But the HU, speakers and all are soldered. Will probably solder on spade terminals for the speaker wire. Not a big fan of lighting inside or outside the car myself. But thats just me. I plan on a new box. May just shoot for 3.5-4 cubes ported, tuned low 32 Hz tuning worked pretty well for these, so did 30. Ill play with BBP6 some. Got my door speakers in, all wire ran, door panels on. Tomorrow will be aiming and wiring tweets, getting the car back to drivable condition, putting as many panels back in as possible, cleaning up my mess of tools ive used. (its too much work to run to the basement and back outside every time i finish using a tool knowing ill need it again) But its dark, and its saturday. Seeing as how me and all my friends are 21 finally (i have been since nov, but some of my friends just turned recently) were goin to the bars tonight. The town i live in has nothing to do...unless you are 21. 32,xxx people, 2 highschools, a mall, and downtown is all bars on both sides of the road. I swear this town has a drinking problem, lol. Time to shower, will update with pics earlier
  16. What a way to spend a saturday, back to the build

  17. HELP...Someone stole my car and raped it If i cut a lil out of the trunk opening here, ill be able to get my old box in there. what do you guys think? Time to get to work and get this thing done with.
  18. I work construction, and i drive it alot, and have other people in my car. Also, while its a 2010, its been in my posession for 8 months, its a new car, but its not a new car. I plan on keepin it clean once the stereo is in. Which means ill just stop letting people in it, lmao. On with more...and if you havent figured out by now, im not a neat freak, so a lil mess doesnt bother me, and i take pics randomly when i remember to, and shit is EVERYWHERE. Pile of parts even end up in random boxes stuff got shipped in to me Box from my blazer, did a 141 with this box, but had alot of box flex, broke a few screws holding the subs in, added braces, got way louder. My buddy Folgers (his last name) giving a hand running speaker wire on drivers side.
  19. This battery terminal is has 4 fused wires coming off, and i had to drive about 20 miles to get 1/0 ring terminals cuz my battery terminal i have wont work. New dash kit next to old dash piece My old german shorthaired pointer. Shes about 11-12 now. Box-O-wire big speaker wire (actially i lie, its just 2 sets in one casing. 9887 in 2nd pic switch is set to 3way
  20. Well, after 8 months of waiting, its finally time. Equipment will be..... CDA-9887 for the head unit, this will allow me to try out a 2 way active front stage...yay...(main reason to go active for me is eliminating the passive xover that eats up power, and allowing me to change out drivers and adjust xover accordingly, easily) Peerless 835004 SDS 6-1/2" CDT TW-25S...Bought theese off woofers etc. open box so they were 50 bucks. Im not wanting to do any glass work right now, and the giant mounting flanges on most of the tweets ive found on PE are huge. Clarion PXW 1251 x2...Used these in my blazer also. MSRP-300 each, i paid 75 each a few years ago now... Kenwood KAC-9104D...till i save up, or convince my buddy to keep letting me borrow his old RF amp Alpine MRP-F300...Good lil 4 ch, had it a year now, only 4-5 months of play time on it. same goes for the 9104D. KnuKonceptz KLMX 1/0 power wire and 12ga biwire for the speakers. Stinger RCAs...umm....think thats about it Pics? Heres a link to pics from the day i got the car Dead pedal removed....may go in the kicks someday with some of these Battery Terminal from HELL...in next post, this is already a big one.
  21. Well, just got home from work, time to get back to it. Will start snappin pics and start a build thread at the end of the night if i dont go out tonight.
  22. Nope. Decided to go back to school in august. So i dont have the money for the T3 right now. Im recycling my old subs and amps, everything else is new. I figured that the equipment i have isnt all that bad, and its way better than nothing. Ive been interested in bandpass boxes, so i will start by stuffing my old box from my blazer in the trunk while i make a new one, then ill make this. 1 cube for each sealed chamber, 3.2 for the ported, with an 8" aero. I know its not the ideal ratio for some of you guys, but i used BBP6 and this is what gave the desired response curve. I tried quite a few different ratios of ported to sealed and alot of different port tunings.
  23. Not yet. Will snap pics tomorrow. Got so wrapped up in trying to figure shit out, ended up taking apart way more of the dash than needed. Like, the whole thing almost. I have a few pics of yesterdays work, and the deadener in the front doors. But thats it for now. Goals for tomorrow. Finish HU, run power wire, run speaker wire to front doors, cut baffles, mount mids, mount tweets, get old box in trunk, start building new box? Worst case scenario, i got till august to build my box. Goal is to have the car bumpin by saturday night. The weather is nice and its time for bass.
  24. well its in the forward part of the center console in my car. In front of the gear selector, next to the ashtray. I plan on running the wire up and behind everything to the head unit, and grounding the HU to the chassis. Hopefully tomorrow ill make some progress. Need to run my 1/0, gunna be a pain, and ill fab up some baffles for the door speakers, mount the tweets, get the front stage running atleast. My friend has my monoblock, so i may have to wait till sat for it. But i got my other friends that i could use for now. Arg. This is pissing me off. Yesterday with my hunt for ring terminals after the damned pos batt terminal has about 4 wires on it from the factory, each one fused, so i cant use the terminal i bought from Knu. Well, tomorrow will be court, work, stereo. Hopefully the weather holds out for me, supposed to be rainy.
