  1. try checking the belt. it could be loose and not getting the right grip and powering your batts right.
  2. if you have your subs wired to 1 ohm you are going to produce 3000 watts of power in a perfect condition. when you set the gain you are, like you said, matching the head unit output voltage to the amplifier input voltage. you are not telling the amplifier how many watts it should produce. the only way to change the wattage is to change the ohms... the resistance. 2 ohms is more resistance than 1 therefore it will produce less wattage at optimum voltage (hence correct gain setting). but like David already said that amp won't even produce 1600 watts at 2 ohms. hope this helps.
  3. less hands for turning that bass knob woah there I like being a member. I have learned so much from reading and posting. 18+ is a little much. and I can't wait to see what you do with the caddy. I mean I would come down just to go for a spin but adding a sound system... you just never stop do you keep slumpin Steve
  4. depends on the ohm load. what are you trying to run and at what ohm's?
  5. I'm just saying that combo works really well for me. I haven't tried it on any other systems so I can't say if it slaps
  6. So I was going through my playlist's and Mary J. Blige - Be Without You came on. If you have an 18 and your box is tuned around 31ish Hz give it a whirl. I was fairly shocked at how much slap it had. :01nocomment8so: :hairtrick:
  7. haven't metered it yet. I don't want to until I can do something with my alternator either a new one or big 3. I am waiting until I get two 18's before I upgrade to a t2k. thats really far down though. but thanks drew
  8. the 18" Bl will do well on the zx1500.1 I have mine running off 1500 watts and people think I should throw more at it. Fi's are beasts so you should have head room to upgrade amps if you want louder. Welcome "theDrew" and welcome to the 18" club pressures on now.
  9. I know its fairly new but then after when he looked at me weird I said ok what about any other sound processor's? And he still didn't know.
  10. I guess I could see how you are right on this. If anything you should call a real car audio shop to answer car audio questions. The last guy had a lot things spot on. I still like the video just to listen to the WalMart responses.
  11. thats the same way with me. I went in to Circuit City a while back and I was asking them questions about my particular setup that I wanted back then. I wanted to keep my factory radio because I was on a "budget" paha. they told me it would cost close to $300 with line drivers and what not. I asked if they knew what a 3Sixty was and if I should get one and they looked at me like I was speaking a completely different language. They even asked their "tech" guy and he didn't know what it was. SMD FTW!
  12. I Can Sell It - E40 Knockin Doorz Down - Pimp C briefly... Earl - E40 Sliding Down the Pole - E40 All the E40 songs are on the Ball Street Journal.
  13. check my build log in my sig for that. there is room for two batteries. one in the stock spot and one on the passenger side. I didn't have much luck with it but some people have on here.
  14. yeah thats what I like about mine is the ability in the future to go as big as steve or go bigger and wall it. the interiors change though. I was so stuck on the 2000-2002 interior and almost didn't want to buy the 2003 because the console changed so much but now I think that its a lot better. it definitely uses the space more efficiently than 2000-2002. the dash is so easy to disassemble just like the rest of the car. its kind of a pop the dash out thing. any time you want to take something off there will almost always be clips holding them together. either clips or bolts.
  15. I would recommend one completely. they ride so smooth and I was thinking about it the other day. a lot of accessories for cars these days are made for tahoe's and suburban's. they really easy to customize. I got mine for $9,000 out the door. but I have done a lot to it since. it had fender flares, emblems, side moldings, and running boards that I took off. and I had to get a brand new battery straight off the lot as well as something else for the engine that I can't remember.
  16. well I got mine like a year ago because I was really in to video editing. altogether I have: 20" iMac - $1500 Sony Surround Sound - $200 Final Cut Studio which has every program needed to make movies -Final Cut Pro -Soundtrack Pro(works great to find how low songs can get) -Motion -DVD Studio Pro 4 -Compressor I used a student discount and got it for $699 but it goes for about $1299 and a decent camera like mine... they are cheaper now but I got mine for $1100 I just turned over 110,000 yesterday. I bought it used at like 103,000 miles. I am going to get new plugs soon.
  17. thanks guys I use Final Cut Pro and my Canon HV10
  18. watch here. the description tells it all.
  19. Listen to some of the responses this guy gets. Apparently capacitors rule at WalMart watch this.
  20. yeah and then he has some 10" shallow mounts. but yeah same thing just a ton of them
  21. you can get the RF t162s' for cheaper here. I would know I have been researching them forever.
  22. thanks everyone for all the tips. I am going to get started this weekend since Chevy finally called and said my little 5 oz can is in. What a joke. My dad knocked them down to $10 since I couldn't go in and get it because rattle cans and minors don't mix. I trust anything that Thewes says because basically I dig everything he does with his rides. The Performer helped a lot with extra advice. I'll shoot some pics in the process and post them in my build. I'm going to try and find some door handles and mirrors from other Tahoe's like mine that are already painted but if I can't I'm going to be starting possibly this weekend if I can pick up another rattle can or 2.
  23. it also protects the sub from bottoming out. some subs can't handle real low notes. there are also some theories on the back pressure in some boxes of low hz notes that screw up the sub.
  24. thuggin by webbie kind of has the same effect in the beginning. rockaway is pretty hard to find so good luck.
  25. oh thats rockaway by jump fresh klick. that s*** gets low. good sweeps too.
