  1. I got my new CDT Audio 4" comps. Yay!!

Here's one of them installed in the door. I'm going for the stock look. I know...I know. Maybe later, I'll go full-out crazy. I've just had 3 systems stolen in the past, so I'm getting more and more stealth.

    So, watcha think??

I haven't hooked them up yet, but they will be hooked up tomorrow. Oh yes, they will!! :yahoo:

  2. honestly for staging your not gonna want any speakers in your a pillers, but if you must want clean, loud and in your face then you can put them there.

See, that's what I wanted to hear. That's why I was gonna keep them in the doors. Then just add some 8's in the kickpanels ora single 8" on the center hump under the dash. I don't want just loud to be loud. I'm a musician and I want great sound, not just loud. I love SQ systems. No offense to all the SPL guys. I love my bass, as much as anyone, but I really dig listening to all kinds of music and hearing all the subtle nuances of the music.

  3. I was gonna drop a wood enclosure down into the steel enclosure and then sound deaden between the metal and wood. So, it should be completely rattle free. As far as the 3way's go up front. I'm still debating on putting my 4" comps in the a-pillars and then keep the 6.5's in the doors and just a single 8" hidden subwoofer, just for some upfront bass. Watcha think roscoe??

I've really been thinking and I really like the idea of the a-pillars, but I don't wanna build them. I'm lazy and don't have a shop or garage to do them in. I would have to do them in my apartment and that ain't happening. I was thinking of going with these:

    Kar Design

Anybody had any luck with these?? :unknw:

  4. No what Im saying is do your 3 ways in the kicks and and your 8's in the doors. But if your set on the 3 ways in the doors then get creative and put your 8's in the kicks or under the dash or in the floorboards.

and on your thought of sinking the 15 in the back it could work. Its alot of work you have to build a very solid enclosure out of steel and deaden the hell out of it or drop a wood enclosure into the steel enclosure. Either way its gonna have to be weather proofed ont he outside of the vehicle.

  5. Still working with the tahoe? 8" subs in the kicks. will take up some space but sound great IMO. my first choice wouldve been the doors but since your mids/highs are in there kicks are the only other option unless your gonna get real creative and do an under dash, or floorboard instillation.

Don't know if I wanna rip the dash apart for a indash setup. I'm thinking kicks or floorboard. It would go along with the idea that I've had about sinking a tub in the back of the Tahoe for a single 15", where the spare tire is. Any thoughts on this, sir roscoe?? :acute:

I took out the kicks. Friends kept getting in and kicking them. So, I went 3 way in the front. :spiteful:

I have the front split bench seat, just so ya know.

  7. yeah, working with a 2003 Tahoe. Here's my setup right now:

Alpine iDa-x100 (soon to be changed to double din, possibly Kenwood 8120 or Pioneer F90bt

RF T-162 comps in all doors with tweeters disconnected in front doors

CDT Audio 4" comps in front doors for midrange

Sony GTR2002 on mids and one on rear comps

DB Drive amp on 4"comps (not sure the model number)

Alpine 500 watt amp on Type S sub (that's going out realllllll soooonnn!)

I'm about to plop down for a 15" sub, but I only want it to play from 30-40hz and down. So the 8" will be playing from 30/40hz to 80hz or so.

    Now any suggestions???

  8. It's gonna be a loud SQ system. I'm not gonna compete. Just looking to please my ears. So, I was thinking an 8" sub upfront for a little better lower midbass response. I have a 3 way component setup in the doors now. RF T-162 midbass and CDT Audio 4" comps to fill out the rest.

Any suggestions? or do ya'll think that would be worth it?? I just don't wanna crossover my midbass so low.

  9. Hell Yeah Bro. I would love to see the Hoopty live. Dude, Steve, your craftsmanship is amazing! I've known many installers and they weren't even near your caliber. Geez. Come to Texas and give classes to these fools. I'm not a professional installer and I know more about car audio than these yahoos here.

Can't wait to see those massive ass calipers finished. :D

  10. Bump?

You're gonna be hard-pressed to find a good set of components for that price man! You could get some decent mid-level comps for that. I would say wait and save up a little and get some better ones. Not that much more, like $200.

I love my Rockford Fosgate Power series 6.5's. The highs are amazing. I used to have some of the MB Quart Premiums and they were awesome. It's really personal preference, bro.

I would just say, take some time and go to some local shops and have a listen. See what sounds good to you!

  11. 4 18 BTL's and like 6 HC2400's

    lol Jk

    couldnt resist.

ha ha ha. yeah, i actually have thought about putting two 15's in the back and I know that would drop it a little, but not that much. I'm also thinking about 24's on the Tahoe too. Anyway, I'm wondering if I could just order some of the drop springs off the McGaughy's (or however it's spelled) kit and just use those??
