Yes, turn the bass boost ALL the way down. Then set your gain between 1/2 and 3/4, should be a tad better
What?
Why would he have to do that?
He should set his gains properly, with a DD-1, Oscope or atleast with a DMM.
Don't trust your ears, you can't hear clipping properly at all.
-
you dont hear any difference between 600w and 750w. The difference is barely 1.5db and that isnt audible at all. A 3db difference is slightly audible. Just keep it on the safe side and do the 600w and set the gain correctly.

I think Fi has these tests, but only made for themselves.
Damn, it took quite a beating.

ok new to dc didn't want to go threw threads hunting for something could just ask
first is like to know specs on the 8 inch sub and what kind number they put up.
second what can the level 4 hand daily on clean power before blowing up.
I am building trunk to do 150 plus easy with 2 level 4s 15s.
my best is 147.7 with 2 xd which roughly same as level 3. clamped power was 2010 watts and was on dash legal with door open. box was tuned to 45 hrz peaked at 57hrz. high but got the numbers.
my second build decided to do 2 12 type x on audiopipe 3k. best was 146.1 at 40 hrz clamped 2260 watts out trunk still. was tuned low and it did very good job of flex. build was post on here back in sep. if anyone remembers. pretty sure everyone said wouldnt do what it did and was not impressive. lol
i am now on team dc and like know few things about there sub thanks.
Kind of lazy don't you think? Why would we do the effort to type something if you haven't done a effort to search? (seems quite harsh but it seems logical to me)
The power handling depends on the person using it , but since you have already overpowerd a few subs, you shouldn't worry going 20% over RMS rating.(i can't tell you to run 2kw to it because i don't want to be respobsible for a broken sub.)
It doesn't matter how loud someone got a sub, the difference between a few people with the same sub and power could be 10db.

They never get warm? i have the headunit at 24/35 and my ipod 80% flat EQ. I dont bass out like most people do. Both of the subs make a scratching noise when i push them past half way. i dont know if that normal? Both subs are very easy to push it also
Very easy to push? So they aren't new i suppose?
They are probably pushed to the max by the previous owner and the coil is probably f**ked up and the spiders aren't as effective as new because they are worn out.
-
The JL's should smell like perfume when they get burned up, if not please go back to the dealer.
(it's probably because the subs are still brand new and the glue still has to cure fully )

uhmmm it's in french and i the only vote i see is also in french and it's not a link... do i have to like the page in order to vote?
Yes, i'm sorry forgot to mention it.
you first have to like the page and then reclick the link
Would you guys want on video how to do it?
-
Nevermind people, thanks for voting for the one who did.

4 g's in subs, 4 g's in amps, 4g's in electrical, and so on...
That's already 12g is you want to get the best out of your system.

Just ignore it, he won't buy any of it.
Jumping from pyramid to SMD's overnight... sur :peepwall:e..

Just read the forums a bit you'll see what brands there are and which are good.
Look at the SMD partners.

Is that a D1, D2, or D4 sub? What is other coil reading? Or is that just a single 1ohm sub??????? More info, as Ive never seen a single 1ohm VC sub
That 1 stands for infinite, which means there is no closed circuit.
it might help if your dmm wasnt set for AC voltage
maybe its set in the ohm area and you cant see it.....
if it was in the AC voltage it probly would read 0
No it wouldn't, have you used a DMM before?
It reads that way when the value is infinite.
set for 200, more accurate reading..but im guessing your tinsels are smoked somewhere
It won't read more accurate if it's a infinite value , only if the value is below 2ohm.
d2 sub reading 1 on the dmm...
No it's not it's rading infinite, have you used a DMM before?
d2 sub reading 1 on the dmm...
Thats what I was thinking....
Thinking wrong..(read above )
Even if the dmm is set at 2000, I would think it would read close to 2, you know, rounding up.
again, have you even used a DMM before?
It doesn't round up to 1 IF that was the value it was showing. It's showing a infinite value.

If you want a quiet ride, using deadener is not going to give the best or even a good result.
Use a MLV noise barrier all over the vehicle to get rid of noise and make your ride more quiet.

A amp will produce a almost even wattage across 20-20,000hz. (although there are some amps that don't...)
The reason why a amp will make X wattage when connected to a speaker is because of the impedance curve.
-
Why would you want to have the same power going to your tweeter and mid? :s
Seems wrong to me.

Read THIS please, it's very informative.

i agree to the above terms and i agree to follow through within a timely manner.

Good choice of color on the truck. Great looking SUV .

Honestly, dual 6's. I have a single 6 for my 2 12" mayhems and I'm going to drop in my other 6.
Mayhem=/= SA 12
The SA 12 will be good with 1 6 inch port, or 2 4's. Maybe even 3 4's if you can but since you want to go the cheaper route, 2 4's will be enough.
1 single 6 inch is more efficient then 2 4's, but it's only in tenths of dB.

Stinger is a good brand if you can't get XS.

Tune to your cars resonant frequency.
Why should he tune at resonant frequency?
I don't think that his goal is SPL,going to competitions.
Tune to your cars resonant frequency.
or somtimes a little below. I usually peak 10 or so hertz above what my box is tuned at
How do you know where he has to tune if you don't even know what sub he gets?
If you would tune to resonant frequency it would sound crappy in 99% of the installs. He didn't ask how to be the loudest and even then, tuning to the RF of your car would not be the loudest tuning.
Hatley_1, which subs are you using ?
What kind of music are you listening to?
What are your goals?
I never said i did know?... My point was not to tune at resonant frequency. Read again
woops, youi shouldn't even be in that post.

offcourse not..
But you are loosing your freedom america. And that law violates the human rights, which seeems totally wrong to me.

Try cutting the port down so it's tuned to 37hz and if you gain something cut it down even more.
You peak so high, because the resonant frequency fo your car is probably 43hertz or somewhere close to it.

dont mind if i jump in i need an alt too it seems but im not looking to spend more than 300 + maybe 100 more for installation. not sure i would know how to switch it out.. any ideas? i have a 2001 sabb 93.
If you want to have a HO alt, you need to be prepared to atleast put down 550 dollar, install not included.
You won't get a good HO alt for 300, except when there is a BIG discount.
Gain on Amp or Adjust Headunit?

Im sorry but i had to laugh at this.
Go to a shop and let them tune your gain, because you aren't qualified to do it at the moment.
(that's really the best advice i have, because i don't think you want to buy a DD1 or a Oscope)
You are clipping, im 100% sure.
