  3. thanks alot for the quick replies guys, and cj18 i appreciate the pm. main reason i didnt contact a dealer was because i was unfamiliar with the prices to begin with and (just assumed they would be alot more than what this guy was offering). i will look into what shipping is gunna be on these mofos and possibly will end up going thru a certified dealer on the site. thnks again!
  4. i found some xl's some guy has on another forum for 600$ plus shipping 2 12" dc xl's and there brand new in the box. im unfamiliar with the pricing of the brand and really want to rock some dc's so any help here is appreciated guys. thanks alot

  6. ok. so basically you guys are saying yes i could add a second battery and be ok with the stock alt. you just wouldnt add the battery i have. correct? i plan on upgrading my alternator once income tax comes thru so it shouldnt be more than a month or 2. fyi. great info so far anyone else?
  7. so my pops had a few extra batts layin around his shop and asked if maybe i wantd any of them for my system.. i have horrible voltage drop as is with my aq2200d and 15 fi bl on stock alt with big 3 done in a 10 impala. i beleive my alt is like 125 amps i wantd to kno if running another battery in parelell to the back would stress my alt. to much and fry it. keep in mind these batteries my dads got are light truck batteries, 75 series, like 950 cca's its a big battery. (i dont even know if u can run a bat like that to the back) so what do you guys think? this is all "for now" while i wait to get a highout put alternator.. any helps greatly appreciated
  8. yo i deff agree with what skittles has to say.. my old box was small and my port area was around 7 sqin per foot.. as soon as i changed my box and got about 16 in per sq foot.. insane difference.. lows were amazing.. problem is my box is as big as it can get... my trunk is big but the OPENING of the trunk suuuuuucks.... i could lose some height annd gain some depth maybe but not much... how could i get that much port area with the dimensions i gave and still have it tuned to like low 30s? i was told to pm decaf. im guna do that now. is there any one else that can help? i built this box with torres box calc. it told me i was 4.3 cubed gross. and 3.9 cubed net. at 33.8hz the dimensions i gave it were h-17, w- 32, d-17.5 and for the port h-15.5, w-2, d-14.... was it just way off?
  9. well then...... lol. i did use torres box calc. and thought i did things rite.. guess not tho. its cool cause every box i build it gets easier and easier and better sounding so ya does anyone wanna design me something please?? haha
  10. i would seal of and fire into the cabin but that would make me sacrifice my back seat considering its NOT a flipp down one. ( i dont really wana do that) my box in there now that i just built is 32 wide 17 tall 17.5 deep. port is 2 inches wide 14 deep 15.5 tall slot ported tuned to 33. it gets low and sounds good i am just wanting more!!!!! i know a better enclosure could help me a bit here. o ya should i mention ive got stock electrical minus the big 3 =/ my amp prolly sees no more than 12 volts at full tilt. gotta love bein broke!
  11. hello, i was wondering if anyone is willing to make me a design for a box. i have a 15 inch fi bl running on an aq2200 and the biggest the box could be is 32 wide 17 tall 17.5 deep. ive already built two boxes for this setup and im just not pleased. first one i built without knowing how to tune (turnd out at like 47 hz lol) and i just built one yesterday tuned to 33. it sounds good but im sure with a better enclosure i could get louder this is for the trunk of my 2010 impala .. id like to get as loud as possible keeping it in the trunk. so any help is greatly appreciated i know theres alota people on here who have way more building experience than i do, thanks.
  12. greaaat thats exactly what i did. lol wtf so far ive only got it along one seam in the box still wet to the touch (8 hours later). should i just scrape it out? i swear ive seen some reputable peole around here do this but i mustve missed the pard where they used glass as well.. fuck the cold.
  13. i used extra hardner and am using a heat lamp... i had no other choice but to go ahead and do it considering it wont warm up for about 3 months where i am im just hoping for it to atleast stiffen up a little bit so i could start the other corners..
  14. i just started to 45 my corners with resin tonite on my box and its 16 degrees currently... box is sitting in my garage thats attatched to my house...how long of a dry time am i looking at
  15. what part of the port need to be 18 inches longer? what would the exact dimensions of the port have to be to tune in the 30-32 freq. range with my box's dimensions i have now?
  16. this box is for 1 15" fi bl loaded on an aq2200d in the trunk of my 2010 impala, sub and port firing back i KNOW this system can get louder than it is rite now. ive had it in a few dif boxes before a couple prefabs and 1 built by my dad and they were just as loud if not louder than it is now and i had a hifonics 1600d back then.
  17. really?? so i could be louder? im new to the math involved. i honestly just built a box that fits in my car. i fiber glassed the inside doubled up the baffle and made it look nice but had no clue how to tune. =/ im guna build a new box. if i keep the same dimensions, what kinda port measurments would i be looking at to get it to a good tune? thnks a ton btw
  18. i built my box myself. port is 3.5 wide 15.5 tall and 4 inches from my back wall. box is 17 high 32 wide 17.5 depth. what would u guess its tuned to? i hit low notes very well and highnotes sound like shit sometimes
  19. i built a ported subwoofer box. on pretty much all designs i see the port wall goes strait back and the cuts to either the right or left. on my box i made my portwall just strait back if u were to look at my box from the top with the top off my port wall just gos strait back and ends about 5 inches from the bak wall i hope this makes sense, anyway am i loosing any sound quality by having it like this?

  21. i have a 2010 impala 3.5 v6. thismorning while driving this light flashd on the dash on and off, and has been the whole day. ive ownd the vehicle for about a month and a half and never noticed this lightbefore i did the big 3 about 4 days ago and wondering if this could have anything to do with it this light comes on when the vehicle detects that the voltage is droping below a resonable level, and the car automaticaly shuts off the ac, and other components to compensate... any oone ever have this issue? it doesnt make sense to me cause i figured by doing the big 3 i wouldve put LESS of a strain on my alt. and had a higher voltage maybe a bad alt? i kno my battery was fine before the big 3
  22. i just finished doin my big 3 and want to make sure i did it correctly. heres my negative battery terminal there was a post sticking off my stock terminal so i connected the chassis and engine ground to this post as for my positive terminal i kno its hard to see but thats my alt. positive wire ontop of my amp power wire. i left all the stock electrical hooked up, and fused the alt. wire is it ok to do it like this or do i need to get new batt. terminals? with dual 0 guage outputs
  23. i believe my alternator is 125 amps. altho im not positive cause its pooring rain out rite now and im at work with no time to check. what kind of wires do you guys recommend? does anyone have a link where i can find sum inexpensive quality wire by the foot?
