  1. i know its hard to get opinions from s10 guys cuz they either wall or have small stuff. sucks
  2. oh ya its deaf 6 cubes after all displacement for sure lol. ive been told that i need a bigger box for such a low tune. from plugging in quick numbers i can get 32" tall box, 15" deep 43" wide, 7.8 cubes after all displacement, 33.20hz , 114.75 sq inches of port.. subs forward, port up....now do i need more port from the 94 i had? remember im looking to ground pound, not SPL. i just dont know what to do anymore..
  3. so ive just finished building my 2nd box for these, and still not satisfied. ive done subs forward, port up in middle, but the box made me move my seat to close to the steering wheel it was 6 cubes 80sq inches of port, and i think there wasn't enough port area. sounded good though. my new box is subs up, port up (drivers side) 6 cubes, 94 sq inches of port. both box's tuned to 32 hz, so im looking to for help on something will i will be happy with, im not looking for numbers, just something that gets low and hella loud at it. my truck is a 99 s10 ext cab. do i need a bigger box for such low tuning? higher tuning? i play a lot of low 30-35 hz songs when i have it full tilt. i can only go max 16" deep with subs up, max 43" long, and height shorter the better, but right now box is 25, and i could go up to like 32? i just dont want my subs and port way above me head. if i do subs forward, the box has to be less depth so i dont have to push my seats forward again. please help box builders!!! P.S running off a saz 3500 at 1 ohm..
  4. i dont do a neg run to the front, and my voltage is off by maybe .1 volt. so for $50-60 for a run to the front isnt worth it to me for .1, but again i have a straight frame front to back, so its not a big deal for me as where maybe cars that dont should do a run to the front.
  5. awsome, thanks decaf, ill check out some songs from the carter to get familiar with bad clipping. it was more or less the sound that scared me, but i guess it was just the tuning of the EQ that did it.
  6. what are power tools??? EH , we go to home depot to get our wood cut, and they like to cut it 1/16th to short as they dont encounter the width of the saw blade, but thats canadians for ya EH, lol good to see a fellow Ontarian that lives in the country also!! woot woot
  7. well i think i found out what that sound was, i changed BAND 1 on my EQ on my deck from 40hz, to 60 hz, and it seems to not do it during that song (also found out that it did it on a jay-z's new song) so i figured it wasn't the mike jones song) so far so good, i guess it was the speaker distorting. but i check very often if my coils get warm as my subs sit right behind my head so its nothing to reach around and feel the cone.
  8. hmm, maybe it was at a point in the song it made the mids bottom out? im over powering my coax also, so that doesn't help
  9. i know when i put the song into audacity and click on show clipping, it has a bunch of red bars through out the song
  10. well yesterday driving home i played mike jones - got it sewed up (remix) and i heard a loud bang inside my truck (no idea what it was) but it was only at 1 certain point in the song, happened twice (no bass, just mids n highs and amp in right now), so i came home, read up on decaf on how to check for clipping, and found out this song is clipped, now i manged to get some what of a picture of it, is this just a song not to play, or is this much ok to play just not hella loud?
  11. ok, talking to torres, i had the port backwards, so this is what i have come up with to be about the same, how does this look now?
  12. the 45 doesn't shorten the port length at all, the 45 keeps the port the same all the way through. So ill add .25" to the height and the port, that way it lowers my tuning, and gives me a bigger net air space inside the box.. calculator reads - 6.22 cubes @ 32.14 and when i double baffle it, it will also pull my subs up .75" (but the extra i gain from that will equal out when i brace it)
  13. well i want the box to be 6 cubes at 32 hz, i listen to a lot of e-40, too short, low bass stuff. i just dont see how the box i have in the first post is wrong?
  14. sorry your dimensions are wrong internal dimensions are 34.25 wide x 22.5 high x 14.5 = 11174.0625
  15. yea i know between 12-16, but thats a very big difference in between, my last box was 80 sq inches of port and i felt i was chocking them, im not going for numbers at all. just ground pounder style with the loowwws, so is that port area just fine then or will i not like it to much?
  16. anyone? is that enough port? and is that diagram right?
  17. Or should i do subs forward port up? im just worried of having the subs hit the seats
  18. hey, can someone check my numbers and my awesome picture to make sure i have this right? 2 15" nightshades -- subs up, port up -- box height - 24 depth - 16 Length - 43 Port height - 14.5 width - 6.5 length - 24 net air space 6.15ft3. port area 94.25 in2. @32.43 red is port, blue is measuring
  19. thanks brian, i already knew about that, tried to draw it up on paper and wasn't working out, i know the port was coming out to 29 was hoping someone knew what was wrong with that, i do plan on putting a 45 in the corner, and all those numbers have the displacement of the sub already, those numbers are all after displacement of the subs. (those specs of box are final after all displacement) i just dont understand how im going to get it to work.
  20. now does anyone want to be kind and do me up a sketch of this, im a retard when it comes to that, here are my xposports calc's 6 10" Sundown sa's box height - 29 depth - 14 Length - 43 Port height - 12.5 width - 7.5 length - 24.5 net air space 6.24ft3. port area 93.75 in2. @32.33 subs forward, port up (drivers side) thanks if anyone could do that!!
  21. yea i can figure everything out, its just knowing how much to use, the box i have designed is going to use 93 sq inches of port. so its either that, or do 100 sq inches. but i figured i would be safe at 15. and i believe 20 is more for spl
  22. ok well ill be getting the sundown SA-10's when they are available, so 6 of those on a single SAZ-3500D, box tuned to 32.5hz, and like i said, ground pounder style, so just clean and loud, dont care about numbers. (in a 99 ext cab s10, subs forward, port up) just want to get it right the first time lol
