  1. Oh, and can that $4.99 one help me figure out all my polarities? Factory wire going to my speakers for example, or even the terminals on the speakers? (or do i need to do the 9 volt trick for that).
  2. Well I'll be damned. There is one of them stores in the town I live in. Never heard of that. Thanks for the tip!
  3. Well, I'm sure I can do some prorating here. If a 1 cu/ft box means it can handle the max of 400w RMS and a 4.6 cu/ft only should be ran @ 300... I should go ahead and find me a 3 cu ft (that would be double for two speakers, so 6 right?) and my 328.5 watts of true power should be fine! I don't suppose I can just seal up my ports on my existing one? LOL
  4. Well I'm just weirded out by the whole fact it says these speakers handle 400 watts RMS.... then its actually only 400 watts RMS if its in a compact sealed box. I mean, I'm going to be feeding them OVER what the manual says for a ported box.
  5. what is harbor freight? My Canadian senses are tingling. Must be one of those things.
  6. Today has been like "subsonic filter day." LOL. I'm starting to think that term is bullshit. I mean, the lowpass knob or the settings on my HU should fix that right? just set to 25hz I guess.
  7. So.. don't worry about it? Just try and match the vented criteria? I know 28 watts isn't probably going to matter, but I really don't want to fry these things (even in the long term) or have my ports farting on me due to subsonic noise.
  8. Well, looks like the actual frequency response of the amp I am getting (just located one for sure now.. grr) is Not Available? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_108R611A/Infi...tures_and_specs That is helpful. I'm getting too much info now and my brain hurts trying to figure out how to prevent subsonic damage and all that jazz.
  9. Or is this just some crazy mumbo jumbo. I have tons of work to do on my ported box to get it where I want it, and I am planning on feeding my new speakers 328 watts a piece (28 watts over what is recommended max for a vented box?) and am really confused now. Does this mean I should go sealed? http://www.crutchfield.com/p_2067C12VR2/Ki...b=detailed_info Someone told me the CVR should go vented yesterday & today some random Craiglist guy said sealed is the way to boom and minimize trunk noise (which I got) Damn. I guess I need to get a new box (says there compact sealed is only way to reach max RMS)
  10. Uh oh, the frequency response argument has boiled over. As a nub I've been trying to figure this out myself. My speakers are 25 - 500Hz and the amp I want is like 20- whatever... does it mean anything? I guess not.
  11. Good point. I'm only going to be on the lower edge of 4 gauge needs. In fact, 6 gauge would be enough, but 4 is just easier to work with because its as standard as 8.
  12. I guess this is the only auction I feel I can trust (besides that kicker one) but I need to know what Primary Wire means... what is that? http://cgi.ebay.com/Tsunami-AMP1500-MANL-2...%3A1|240%3A1318 If its speaker wire, then I'm sold. I could use 32 feet of that. If not, then I may as well go with the kicker pack. All the damn pieces apart can be costly, so the kits are a deal.
  13. Its so crazy because all over Ebay there are varying price 4 AWG packets and some people show cross-sections and brag they have beefier wire and that others are ripping you off. Same thing when you call a local shop. They say beware shoddy wire. I just don't think that I should have to pay the $100+ they are asking, or even the $60 that a decent kicker kit costs. Shit thats almost as much as my speaker. Is there no middle-road, reliable kit? I don't even need the damn RCA, just grounds, positive, AGU/ANL, maybe a terminal and some extra speaker wire never hurts.
  14. That much power for that cheap seems too good to be true. Those things are all over ebay for dirt cheap.
  15. Looks like you are a JBL fan. That Arsenal one with the 700w @ 2ohms looks juicy.
  16. Order Canceled! What was I thinking? I mistook the 1ohm rating for the 2ohm lol. No wonder everyone said it was a mistake.
  17. We shall see. I hope I can resell it for $150 if I don't like it (brand seems popular). Its a great deal. Certainly I'm not going to be underrunning it with that amp. Keep in mind I drive a car, not a truck. And I'm using a vented box. That trunk is going to be moving some air around.
  18. fuck man I am NOT going to be happy with 200w into each speaker. Thats probably not even what my rockford punch 250a put out bridged into two channels (not recommended). That was about perfect for my taste, but I need just a nudge more to match my 6x9's
  19. Yeah, I fell in love with that 611a. A guy @ Electra suggested a 1600a to me on the phone today, but I just got sick of this waiting game. My subs will be here in a few days and I won't be able to stare at them for long. So Hifonics are really that overrated huh? Only 500-550w actual? I saw the argument on another thread about that.
  20. Is this thing really going to be able to get everything most people need done: http://www.kiesub.com/prostores/servlet/Detail?no=877 No clue what shipping is, just thought it seemed realllly cheap.
  21. Well, my options were limited. Every place in town is sold out on the Infinity 611a (which I had my heart set on) and the next step up is JBL arsenal (which are overpriced at $200, I think).... so this was a good compromise (over those stupid Alpines) Plus (I'm lazy so..) it should run fine on my existing Rockford 8 gauge wire. I just can't justify a top of the line 4 gauge kit ($100 for wire?) or wiring up shite quality 4 gauge for a slightly bigger amp. You never can have "too much bass" but I can imagine overkill here lol
  22. see, that is what I thought. Yes, the box is ported and I do not want to break anything (because things get broke as it already is when I'm the owner)
  23. Oh well. I just bought it. It should be perfect for two CVR, its got great customer service, good warranty & the resale value is the upside of the hype. Some guy was trying to sell a Brutus (the one thats like 1100 @ 2 ohms ) on Craiglist last night for $37 less than its new & I think he did. I got no response. Also, per the fella @ Hitronics I spoke to, that is the only website that gives you their 1 yr warranty with the purchase, so I skipped ebay this time.
  24. I am just trying to figure out what makes this such a good amp and why it such a great price: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=20597 It says its an A/B but in reality its a D because of the chip. Is that right? Also, what is with all the Subsonic Filter hype, is that something I'm not going to find in other amps and will that really damage my CVR's? I'm super close to buying this thing, but I just am trying to sort through fact and fiction. Would this really be a better amp than some other brand with a few more watts?
